Dear PlaneShift developers.

Are you able to provide a kind of "administrative cooperation"?

The CrystalSpace developers are so over-busy with so many development tasks, that they are now unable to create a current "Binary Artist Package for Win32" for almost 2 years already!

In fact, jorrit and thebolt put the responsibility for providing development tools on the game developers, according to the chat in IRC channel #crystalspace this morning.

It is, unfortunately, not at all common for a Win32 user, to have a C++ compiler installed, and to have experience in using one (especially when it comes to problems building), or using version management systems, or spending several Gigabytes of harddisk space.

To keep providing contributions and bugfixes to you, at some point I will need current and PlaneShift-compatible Win32 builds of tools like "walktest" and "viewmesh".

Will anyone be able to provide some for me?

Will I need to apply as prospect before you will do so?

Unfortunately as I never find myself in need to use walktest, I don't have a precompiled Windows version. However:

Windows viewmesh: http://www.karyuu.com/Viewmesh.exe
Mac viewmesh: http://www.karyuu.com/ViewMesh.sit
Linux viewmesh and walktest: http://www.karyuu.com/artlinux.tar.bz2

Regarding the Linux versions, from Xordan: "I doubt it'll work first time, I haven't had a chance to test it properly yet. But if you can pass it on to a prospect who can test and report back the console output that'd be good."
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I've thought of this too.  Its really frustrating to require artists to compile stuff... some people are simply artists.  I tried to cross compile a version for windows but haven't got it done yet.  When I do I'll write a script for it and throw it in a cron job on my server so that once a week or so it could generate a new one.

When Gusty comes out I'll be maintaining a special repository for Ubuntu users which will include debs for crystalspace, cal3d, and cel as well as b2cs.  This should let people install this stuff very easily and quickly and be rolling in no time.

Many thanks for the provided downloads, Karyuu! I hope they will work well in a PS or in a CS-lib directory.

If its really needed, I could provide builds of the win32 cs tools- I'm planning to switch my development from linux to win32, and I have webspace I could host it on.  If someone gives me a nudge in a few days when I get back to my development computer I'll look into doing it.
