Inability to connect, but get a cmd ping.
« on: August 18, 2007, 06:00:43 pm »
I have been trying off and on for about a month to connect, and have always been able to ping the server from a cmd prompt, but cannot connect with the client. I have contacted my ISP, opened port 7777 in my router, and made an exception for the program in my firewall. Updated all my drivers, and tried using another computer. I have also changed the servers.xml to reflect the ip instead of the dsn. Checking the server status always seems to indicate there are players online, however the client always reports a failed connection to the server. I am using version .019 from a clean install, windows XP, nvidia Gforce graphics card, 1.4 g amd athlon, with 1g ram. I can run and connect to several other MMO's, but have yet been able to connect to this one. Maybe I have exceptionally unlucky timing, or there is some issue/problem I haven't found. I would like to be able to enjoy this game, however the connection issue is becoming irritating. I am at a loss as to how to correct my problem, any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the client able to ping the server?  A cmd ping uses icmp packets, while the client ping uses udp packets across port 7777.  If the client cannot ping the server, you still don't have proper connection.
