Hey there boys and girls.
As you ought to know: I left (read: was dragged away kicking and screaming) PS about six months ago after my computer effectively imploded. Now I'm back with my spiffy school laptop. I can download PS but I can't install. So resourceful me installed PS on the PC and jump-drived it over to the laptop. It took two tries because PS is so ridiculously huge and the jump drive in question is 1.5 mb smaller than is necessary to hold it all at once.
EDIT: I ought to mention that the reason I can't install PS because the administration is convinced that we're all going to download porn between smoking cigarettes and trafficking drugs, thus, you need an administration username and password to do just about everything.
I've got it all set up on my computer, that is, the files are here and whatnot. I tried to log in and was successful. Although, on the character selection screen, I can't see my characters, and when I tried to make a new character, just for shets and giggles, it kind of froze, and I was unable to click anything.
But that's beside the point.
Currently, I can log into the client, and appear in good old Kada-El's. Unfortunately, I don't have a toolbar. Nothing. And no, it's not hidden, it's just not there. Believe me, I checked. Also, I tried clicking myself to bring up a description, and the window flashed up for about a second before disappearing. Weird? Quite.

Some of those might be because I missed a few files during the two-part transfer from PC to laptop. Yes?
If that's so, could someone please tell me what files to get off the PC?
If it's not that, what am I doing wrong?
And, I can't update the client, because my laptop requires an administrator password. Don't tell me how to haxxor my way in, please, because I do not want to haxxor anything. My highschool career is more important than PS. I'm just telling you so you know. And I'm not updating unless I have to, because this whole experience of transferring files is quite traumatic. Furthermore, my sister doesn't know I stole her jump drive. Shh.
And if you want some system specs or whatever, I'll just sum it up: This is a very l33t laptop. I assure you, it can handle PS.

EDIT AGAIN:
Okay, so I transferred all the files from the desktop again, and it didn't work again. Here's the kicker, I tried it on the desktop, and the character selection screen looked just fine. I didn't try logging in, because I didn't feel like crashing the computer at that point in time, so I'm not sure if the toolbar will be there or not, but I'm pretty sure it would be.
I'm not entirely sure what's wrong. Someone help me. Please.

Well, I tried logging in on the laptop, and still the character selection screen is FUBAR'd in every sense of the word. I arrived in Hydlaa anyway, and still absolutely nothing resembling a toolbar. I would take a picture but Vista hates my usual combination of print screen + paste into paint. It isn't that hard to imagine.
I guess I'll try logging in on the desktop anyway.

So I logged in on the desktop and saw that yes indeed, I do have a toolbar. I'd play it on there, but you know what kind of magic happens when I try.
I tried logging in on the laptop again, and it turns out that it's not just the fact that I can't see the toolbar, but it actually screws up my display. Really badly. The screen went black and for a second I thought it was nv4_disp all over again, but then everything reappeared and I just got a message that my display driver stopped working and started up again. Crazy. I also have a little diagnostic file thing which probably says something along the lines of "JUST INSTALL ME, IDIOT", which I can't do. The jump drive is too small, our CD burner isn't working, and even if they were, I can't install it without an administrator password.
Is there ANYTHING I can do? Or am I (as usual) SOL?
