Not enough skills to mine

Hello,

I hunted a few rats and got me some money, even completed a quest to collect 16 rat eyes. Now I bought myself a rock pick. And after long searching and asking I found a place to dig gold. But now it says "not enough skills to dig for gold". It's better than the "you don't see a good place to dig" message that I have been getting for the last 2 hours.

At Harnquist I tried to learn, but I have no idea how this works. I was asking around, at the magic shop and at harnquist but nobody (wanted) to answer.

Please help me out here.

Hello,

To train a skill/stat you need Progression Points obtained by doing quests, etc etc...
once you have them, you need the trias too. when you have both go to your skill/stat trainer and buy it
to buy a skill/stat, right clic on the npc and clic on "Train" then select your sub-menu with -Job-Stat-Combat-Magic or else
then you will see bars

if there is green bar and no blue you have to practice
if there is green and blue, you need to train.

then you can go digging ores
