Uh, maybe you should experiment a little. There's a way to look at your stats in character creation.

It all depends on which Magic Way you want to be proficient in but Raa's got it right, experiment with character creation .. oh and read the race info and player guide. The answers are in there.

But a pure magician can actually exist? Or I absolutely need to combine professions in order to grow in society?

at the moment, magic is  still being worked on, so, you will need to do some other stuff as well to gain the progression points and the tria to train with
