Animated Gif's in signatures of moderators, not all are equal ?
« on: December 16, 2007, 05:48:02 pm »
Question why does neko kyouran , Position: Global Moderator
have an animated gif in his signature , but the forum rules state that normal users are not allowed to have one.

Its not that I don't like the animated gif, but when I came on the forum for the first time I added an animated gif also to my signature.
Because I had seen neko's animated gif I thought it was allowed, until I red the forum rules and found out I'm not suppose to.

Is it not less confussing for new people if evrybody is equal, I never do things my self that I enforce upon others.
No pun intended , I'm not jellous , but I like consistency , and it gives evrybody the idee that they are treated equaly.

Greetings VuurDraak/PurpleSponge

if you are referring to

Do not use excessive colors or animation in your signature.

the key word is excessive.

There have been many forum users with a little animated siggy.

Just make sure it falls with in all the other guidelines like a normal picture.

And also, that it can be removed at any time by an admin as stated:

We reserve the right to ask you to change and/or remove your signature at any time, for any reason.

*points to his zergling*
Despite this, if you look at other forums for other mmorpgs you may see that the forum looks cluttered and blinding. IE; filled with user bars and advertisements and blah blah blah... x_x

Anyways the rules are only to keep the forum looking clean.
And yeah im about as far from being a moderator as one can be. I'm a citizen just like you mr. sponge.

I am still creeped out that a sponge is talking to me.... Very bad acid trip. O.o

Well a draw back to having animated signatures is that they are distracting and may perhaps distract readers from your posts if to flashy.
I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!

Really? I didn't even notice that option. Hmmm, you learn something new every day.

Mmmm oke , I didn't read it in that manner, in my mind the excessive was only refering to the colours.
Thanks for explaining it further :) , now where is that animated gif i wanted to use :)

excessive refers to both colors and animation as the conjunction "or" links to the word "excessive" to both nouns it ties together.
