"Working with stock" book bug?

I looked for about 8 pages then gave up, when you do a quest for harniquist, other players say that you get the "working with stock" book, so you can make stocks, so i did his quests but did not gain a "working with stock" book, now his next quest is weapon making in which i need 2 steel stock, and the smithy in oja his quest which is shield making also needs 2 steel stock, but i can't make steel stock without the book!

when i did the quest which other players say you get the book as the reward, the reward panel did not show up, for the quest i only got some trias and exp.

Is there a way i can still get the book? other than auction or making another player just to get it?

In my case the reward window doesn't appear. By completing the quest the book shoud be in your inventory. In System chat window is a note about gaining some item. I don't know about sequencing quests, but Learning metalurgy quest may be repeatable (advisor told me).

I may be wrong and this changed by 0.4, but with Trasok and Harnquist I had the experience that they give their quests in varying order. So for one player it may be the first quest, which for another one may be the second one. This indeed can be causing uncomfort, like if the Weapon-making quest is offered before the Working-with-Stocks one.
However, when one of the smithies offers you a quest you are free to just do your "mission" or "give me a quest" or alike just again and again, until you see a quest offered suiting your needs.

If you in fact already did the quest with the correct name (verify in your Quest-window), that book may be in your inventory, like Klojstr said. The Reward-window you expected only appears for quests you can choose of several reward-items. If you would find the book in your bag, dont forget to drag it to the Mind-slot bottom left corner of your inventory screen.

Now that you already have accepted quests of both Trasok and Harns, you will have to buy stocks to finish them.

i made a second character and the same thing happened, i got exactly the same quests and no book

As I said: Try to go to Trasok/Harns, and say "mission", read what he offers. Instead saying "Yes" tell him "mission" again. Repeat that procedure 5-10 times and tell me if he always offered you the same quest.

I found that with this quest, when you give harn the 2 steel stocks, they need to be stacked into one cell. if you give him 2 stocks, one per cell, he will reject the trade. seems that the npc doesnt know how to app up the contents of the 4 cells in the trade window.

To me it looks like those quests are given at random. Turning them down and reasking will only get you the same quest. However, if you wait for a longer period of time before asking again(I logged off and tried again the next day) the quest order will be randomized, giving you a change for a different quest.

Interesting observation.  I'll take a peek at it and see if I can't get it working both ways.

For me, I received the blades book and shields book before the working with stock book.  I believe this was by design; it requires players participating with other players in order to accomplish the quests.

Quite clever, even with out mining skills you can still perform the quests.
