I recently started playing PlaneShift. I'm fairly certain that I read all the instructions/player's guides before I started off, but since I'm a newbie, both to PS and to MMORPGs, I'm not sure if this is a valid problem. Please bear with me.
I seem to have a problem with talking to NPCs and getting them to do stuff for me, and this is keeping me from advancing on to the "real" parts of the game, so as to say.
So I created my character and entered the PS world. I find myself in this town where I can find 5 NPCs only. No other real players.
The first one gave me a quest called "Abelia's Assignment" but I can't get her to do anything more, or give me the tutorial.
Further along the road there is a female NPC, Neave Besetun, who responds, "Hello there! I am here to help you learn some of the basics of blacksmithing."
Then there is an NPC called Ibhaar Senad who responds, "Come to learn to fight have you? Very well, let us proceed."
Then there is another female NPC called Orphia Eldri who responds, "Hello, I think you want to know about magic".
Further down the road, there is a male Klyros named Xargon Guurn who responds, "Greetings sojourner. Please get back to me when you have obtained all three items from other mentors. Then give all three to me at once."
Therefore my assumption is that I need to collect items from the three mentor NPCs (Neave Besetun, Ibhaar Senad & Orphia Eldri) and get back to Xargon Guurn in order to proceed to the "real" parts of the game.
For all of these NPCs I tried phrases such as "Give me a quest" and "Teach me how to x" (x in this case being the appropriate activity for each NPC... for example, for the second mentor NPC, I tried: "Teach me how to fight."
However, they all came back to me with the same message:
"I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand you, or you may have mistyped something. Please don't get frustrated, and try asking your question in a more simple way, or check your spelling. Generally you can refer back to what an npc has said last to pick up from where you left off with them. Make sure you have targeted any npc you wish to speak to."
I'm fairly certain that I have "targeted" the npc I want to speak to, because I have clicked on them, and the part of the ground on which the npc rests is highlighted in pink markings.
If this is a problem that has been addressed before, or if instructions have already been given, please do excuse my newbieness and direct me to the solution/instruction. If not, I would be grateful for any help/advice given.
Many thanks,
Xanten
