Losening GM's restrictions on interacting with players
« on: August 03, 2008, 06:51:07 pm »
I got an idea, since there are a number of threads and posts pointing to the lack of interesting things to do after awhile in game. What if GMs (temporarily) could do small things spontaneously without having to make an event out of it.

For instance, take over a NPC and just talk to whoever is around. Maybe cause a freak snow storm. Or bring back an equivalent of the crystal hunts except maybe use different items. These wouldn't have rewards or anything but would just add a little more randomness to what goes on.

Many people probably don't log on because they expect more of the same but if a logged in GM could do little non disrupting things more spontaneously, then maybe that would help with that. At least have it in place until the new release comes out.

keep in mind that not all gms have the same powers. Also just about anything a gm does needs to be approved by xillix or talad, which takes time and planning.

Illysya: like Caarrie said, GM actions take planning but we are working on it. :)

I like Illysia's idea. This would also lead to new role plays also.

Mathy says to Illysia, "Did you see all that rain the other day?"
Illysia says, "I did. Hopefully no one got badly hurt when that big tree fell down on the road to Oja."

You get the idea, I hope.

I do like the idea of smaller, random things that can happen. I have posted my more detailed thoughts on the events poll already.

Ahem... I think that was sorta the point of the 'loosening restrcitions' part >.>

Im also in favor of the original idea. It was a nice surprise once when Allelia suddenly started to give the drinks out (though it turned out as a bigger even iirc) and for me it appears that such small random things are making the game better.

More things like this have been in the works for a while...

We get the idea.

Personally I used to imitate Brado, Allelia and others on occasion, usually just minor chit chat, asking for weapons to be put away etc

Yeah, things like that always just made the game so much more intriguing. You never knew when your "conversation" with Allelia might suddenly not be one-sided ;D
I'm not sure what the restrictions are as of now, but allowing little things such as were mentioned in the first post would definitely add some excitement to the game (at least in my opinion)

Uhm, yes. I like this idea, too.
It should be interesting, and maybe would enlighten noobs  ;)
Well, over the noob thing, will keep everybody to RP more, to care about other people. And GMs will find time to RP and NPCs will not be only idiots, as actually most of us think.
For the "planning" thing... Bah, I don't know, actually. Sure, we don't want to make rain all the day, but a bit. Something little and usual but nice. :P
