I would think that the purpose of this 'clean-up' was to get rid of all the stuff collected in guildhouses that could be stored on alts ( stacks of crafting materials / normal weapons / quest items / mushrooms etc )
I know some guilds have used Guildhouses as dumping grounds ( i.e store houses for many random items )
Surely the items used to decorate / furnish a guildhouse are acceptable ? ( within reasonable limits of course )
we should be able to have beds and a few cupboards and perhaps a few items to decorate walls ?
if not ?

what was the point of bringing furniture into the game for ?

It is great fun 'personalising' your guildhouse . . .it makes it your own and fits, i feel, within RP guidelines
I do understand that the server is sufering due to excess items in guildhouses , but to have empty 'bland' guildhouses takes away a dimension from the game and leaves it the poorer

just my '2 cents worth'

It is perfectly acceptable to decorate your house with furniture and a few items. The main problem have been houses with hundreds of items. As long as you see a good RP reason for an item, keep it there. If it makes your house cosy, leave it there.

From what I see, there's nothing too much being asked of the players.

Simply put excess items on alts, and furniture can stay out. Maybe a few decorative swords (a FEW), an Ulber rug (just the one), and a bookshelf or two. Perhaps a few beds, chairs and tables, arranged neatly and in good order, with maybe a loaf of bed and a fish for dinner set out on the table.

At least, that's how I'd decorate my GH.

Think of it like a flat you rent (for free) from the Octarchy. If you keep it IC tidy, you're not likely to get evicted. But if it's a great mess, with non-approved DIY renovations and swords in sacks left lying about, they're likely to kick you out and hand it to the guild who promises to keep the place clean.

So RP a spring clean if you have to, tear down your illegal renovations, and if your place just looks like a tidy house, then you'll be fine. Don't sweat.

Just avoid Compulsive hoarding (in german: Messie-Syndrom -- funny that "Messie" is based on the english term "mess", but the term "Messie" is not usual in english speaking countries ... similar to "Handy" as mobile phone).

A bed for dinner ... reminds me on the german saying "I'll eat a broom if that is true" (english: I'll eat my hat).
__

Well, "messy" would be the english adjective, and as germanized personification: the messy person => a Messie.

hello all
"We" have a guildhouse inside "we" have to manny items but i dont know what to do whit this items because they are not "mine" and manny of the player who
have thoses items dont come back in game !
now in game we can have a /storage  option in npc shop perhaps it is not bad for the dev to think about a "guild storage acount" where i can put items of the guild menbers and where they can take it when they want , perhaps something we can open whit the "guild house key" ?

Easy fix. Burn the items! If they arent coming online then your guild will need to decide how to dispose of them. I am with the Brotherhood of Talad, when we cleaned out our GH we sold of the inactive members things. Those who we knew where having technical difficulties had their things spared.

I second- third- fourth- whatever!... the idea of a yard sale in front of your guild house! Great idea for spontanous rp and getting new folks to talk to you about your guild. Plus who doesn't like everyone else's trash? You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I used to carry around before storage!

By the way THANK YOU THANK YOU whoever yous you are, for creating STORAGE!

A guild should be interested in reliable members. Reliability does not only mean to play regularly, but even at least taking efforts in getting guild pals to know when you expect not to be able to play for some longer time. Even if the reason is just lack of interest. Members who stay away from any contact for a longer span of time (e.g. half a year) without any note are not "reliable members" in my opinion. And the less reliable members are, the less reliable their properties will be kept. If it was important to them, they would have taken care of it more often.

I think if you are talking about common items, like ores, regular weapons, repair kits animal parts, then it shouldn't be a problem in selling off those items since they can easily be replaced. It is a rate item, special sword, quest item etc, then you could be nice and store those items. Of course if the player hasn't been on since the switch to the 0.5.0 client then their quests have been wiped and getting rid of quest itms isn't a problem.
