walking/running
« on: May 23, 2009, 05:46:44 pm »
I'm fairly new to the game and have been enjoying it very much, the only thing so far that as a newer player has been very frustrating is running out of stamina when you walk, i understand running out while you run, but even in the interest of hardcore role-play (something else that's very new to me) it doesn't seem to make sense that you would run out of stamina when walking anywhere near as fast as you do in-game. a person of average fitness would be able to walk for a very long time before getting too tired to keep moving, and most of the characters in game would be of above average fitness.

it just seems to me that running out of stamina whilst walking doesn't have any practical reason(once again im fairly new, just under 2 weeks, so i could be wrong here), perhaps when you walk stamina should just stay idle, not increase or decrease.

if this has been said before sorry to raise the dead, didnt want to comb the whole forum. also if this is an inapropriate place for this im sorry as well.

Kind Redards,

Well, the stamina rules may need some tweaking for lower levels, but try to run several tests to understand exactly how.

Try to walk without anything in your inventory.
Try to walk with inventory almost full.
Try to run without anything in your inventory.
Try to run with inventory almost full.

Then, train your character's stats and see how he fares with better ones.

Bottom line is, the system in place right now might not be so far from the truth really. Keep in mind we keep things in the inventory that normal folks would not carry with the everywhere, all the time.

Normal folks have safe places to leave stuff even if it is a homeless persons hollow log stash. Most games like this eventually implement such a place and I guess it will eventually be in the cards here. In the meantime many people use spare characters to hold their stuff.

The sad truth is that whatever kind of character you want to play, you want to start out as if you were going to be a warrior so as to be able to move around and carry things as best as possible. The banker on the first platform above the plaza has an item tab so it is definitely in the cards even though it hasn't been implemented yet.

If you start a character with mental attributes predominating you can't even walk across town without stopping to rest. This only makes sense if you consider what Hydlaa there is is only representative of a town that is much larger in area.

As for using spare characters to store stuff I do not believe that is a kind of alternate accounting that ever got anyone banned; if so I would have been banned long since.
