suggestions for planeshift
« on: June 22, 2009, 07:14:41 pm »
okay on planeshift my name is twisz menell and i would love to suggest a few things
when crafting instead of the wepon looking like a book have it look like a blade but the blade needs work to be done to it
and then the unsharpened wepon looks like a riviter it should look like the wepon thats being made but not useable till you sharpen it then it looks like the wepon completely
maybe you can provide in game maps like they have on runescape
it shows where you are and whats around you

could there be portals in the death realm to other citys
all the characters already have a starting point but i think if you start at hydlaa and you needed to go to brass doors there would be a portal in the deathrealm to go to the brass doors
or you can choose to go into east hydlaa
or you can choose to go to gug
or you can choose to be in oja
i think players would find this useful since some people get tired of getting lost alot then having to die to start over to get it right
(you dont have to go this idea if you dont want to its just a suggestion)

also when you level up a skill stat way anything
it notifys you and there is an anomation above the players head like a mini fire work exploding above their head or the character dose something

for those who get to their maxed level possible they could get a special item or be able to do something to show that they are the master in that level and they can possibly get any better
like an action they can do that signifys it

we could be able to wear capes like skull capes, regular capes, skill capes, capes to increase skill, and there it like red black blue white to like have the players be able to customize their character even more

thank you for reading

Here, to answer a couple of your questions/wants.
For crafting, I'm sure they might have something they're working on for that. Right now, though, it's such a small matter it's not on top of the priorities for developement list, meaning it won't happen for a long time, if ever. It's just not that big of a deal.
For game maps....No. You don't have a big old map in real life floating to your immediate upper left corner, do you? Go out and purchase a home-made map from someone ingame, like you would in real life.
For Portals to other cities...Definite no. You can't just have your character going around and dying all over just so they can go around to whatever city they choose. The death realm is not meant to a mode of transportation. It's meant to be a place where you go when you die. Die. Dying is not a laughing matter in PlaneShift, in fact, alot of people's characters RP having a hard time getting out of the DR when they die, because that's how it would be.

For notifying when you level up. Come on now. We don't need to go all RuneScape here. You don't have fireworks explode over your head in real life when you get stronger because of working out, right? Think smart...PlaneShift is about roleplaying a real life experience in a fantasy setting. You're told that you leveled up in one of the chat tabs, what more do you need?

For capes/maximum skill, I don't even want to answer this one, but I will. If you're the best at something in real life, a magical genie doesn't grant you a 'skull cape' to wear, showing that your most badass. You go out and do things to show people that.

For capes...come on now. Get your head out of RuneScape and do some studying about PlaneShift. someday, there may be capes to wear, but right now we're still in developement stage. This game isn't near done yet, it's still Alpha testing. So, hold your horses, read the settings, and see if you can come up with suggestions that are relevant to PlaneShift, not RuneScape.

P.S.
I met your character ingame, and promptly ignored him because of your behavior. Take some pointers on RolePlay. With your imagination you should be good at it later on. You already know the commands, which is a good start. Just start using your character knowledgeably and respectfully, as well as learning about Yliakum in general, and you could be a respected PlaneShifter yet. However, godmodding, trolling, etc.. is not allowed, like it is in RuneScape. Treat this game more respectfully than any of the other li'l games you play, and you'll be a citizen yet. Best of luck.

Typically the staff frowns on coming out very critical of a new player in their first ten posts Garris, ease up a bit.

We are in fact looking into most of the things this person has wished for and we'll do our best to get them in game as soon as we can.

Hello

Capes (clothes in general) would certainly be a very welcome thing in the community; but I think the devs are aware of it  :)

I believe there are also plans to have multiple portals from the death realm. I personally would like if they point to random places rather than statically to where wants to go, but I might be in a minority here.

A special item for a maxed skill is discussable from my point of view. Having a quest that requires a skill at max and that rewards with a special item related to the skill could be nice. Generally I agree here.

Eh, I don't think I came on harsh. I just told him opinions, gave him some advice, gave him a thumbs up for knowing what he does already, and told him to switch gears to PS mode instead of RS mode.
Apologies if I did come across as harsh, though. Props to him for learning commands, etc, and knowing what he does already ^^

The mini fire idea is good in of itself, but I don't think it would work well from an RP standpoint unless it is just for leveling magic. Also, would everybody or only the player be able to see it? Maybe the idea would work for EZPCUSA.

It's possibly due to the fact that you don't have one whole level for the character, but levels for each stat and skill.

A system message already exists, which reports that you leveled a skill up. The developers may decide if that is so important that it may appear as popup message (like "You got a quest!").
