Can't uninstall
« on: October 24, 2009, 02:02:25 am »
This game doesn't work for me and I would like to uninstall it, but when I run the uninstaller I get this error -
KDEInit could not launch '/opt/PlaneShift/uninstall'
so how do I get rid of the game, please?

Code: [Select]
rm -rf /opt/PlaneShift
rm -rf ~/.PlaneShift

That should pretty much do the trick unless it was installed somewhere other than /opt
To see the directory in your home directory you will likely have to view hidden files but the second line will delete it even if you do not see it.
There may also be scripts in /usr/bin/ that you should also delete it should be pretty obvious which ones they are. I do not have them on this box or I would be more specific, perhaps someone else will chime in.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it put files anywhere other than /opt and didn't know where to look. I didn't see anything that looked like part of it in usr/bin so hopefully I got it all. Thanks again.

you might want to look at /usr/sbin as the scripts could be there, I do not recall exactly. If I am not mistaken they will be planeshift, planeshift-updater and planeshift-settings. It does kind of depend on what type of install you did. I suppose you could try to run one of those in your terminal. You will either get a file not found message or proof that you need to delete them from wherever they might be.
