New (too tough) monsters in low-level areas
« on: February 09, 2010, 02:00:22 am »
since the last change, I suddenly found far too high a challenge mobs in areas where here used to be "fodder" for low level PCs to - well, "train" a bit. (e.g. sewers - Rats, occasional gobbers, rogues or a tetu... - now? a Wrath Rat, a Thunder Clacker?).

1. It might be the desire for "group" fights, but this is not always possible, be it due to server trouble, slow machines, lags or simple time zone issues - I think a chartacter should be able to kill the "suited opposition" alone. And where should a low level go now?
2. to make things worse, those critters even spawn near (or in) load zones, so if you lag there - have a nice trip to Dakkru. Sorry, if I can ru that is one ting, but if I get creamed for simple loading (and resulting lag, occasionally not even seeing the enemy coming) - that is plain... well, you call it something.

Opinions? And please... devs... fix this...

As another "low-level" player, I agree.  I can no longer practice my "skills" in the sewers; the blue clacker got me right away.  And having the lag, never getting in a swing with my sword, well.  As was said, a nice trip to Dakkru.  And then it takes five tries to get out, because of the monsters there.  Blue clackers, massive grendols, waith-rats, and Onyx Dagger rogues, to name but a few....
Can us semi newbies please get some kind of slack, somewhere, somehow????
my name is Sanrai ;)

If I were new I would work around the problem by teaming up with other players. If you don't team up your missing out big time.
Mmorpg's are not meamt to be played solo. The more connected you are with other players the better the experience.

For low level try ojaveda - there should be plenty of rats and rogues there.
Also, more experienced players may be able to offer tactical advice on how to beat these creatures.

I can offer it, but it doesn't help for those of us that lag out during combat and can't use the strategies.  :@#\
Don't godmod me and we'll get along fine.

this game is far too laggy to have strategy. training is too frustrating, along with pretty much anything else, so i haven't bothered playing often in the last few months. chatting takes too long, roleplay is slow, loading crashes my game. and i don't have an old machine.

it seems like the arena mobs have leveled up too, but that may just be because i didn't see the "gladiator" tag above what used to be a weaker mob, and i was planning to just stand there and train light armor.  X-/

There's already a collection thread for problems related to the recent changes on mobs:
http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=36836.0

To keep consistent it will be nice if ALL npc complaints or suggestions end up here until the re-deployment is done. We'll be adding more and fixing what is there for the next....forever... so feel free to pile your issues up here.

Best,
