Good to hear that this is being revitalized.

Just curious about at few things...

1. What will make this different from Kada El's  ( I'm not picking on this, just curious )
2. Restrictions made it hard to keep the Den open in the past, there had to be at least a bar tender and a guard present, Is this still the case?
3. Is the Den now unlocked or does someone still need to open it ?

As one of the new managers, I'll attempt to answer your questions Rigwyn.

1. We hope to cultivate a bit of restraint on the Den's patrons as indicated in the establishment's rules of conduct which will hopefully allow for and be conducive to more enjoyable rp.

2/3. Currently we have no guard requirement and will see how this works out with enforcing the rules. We have also considered leaving the Den open at all times but currently are unable to until some method of protecting the drinks in the barrels from would be looters can be devised. (And this has already happened where our mug supply has been stolen!  :'( )

Note that we are taking job applications for any interested in serving, guarding or performing on stage. Please contact Dannae, or Telnavi if interested.

Aww look Pepito is being nice. ;D Run!

But seriously. Thanks for getting the answers started Dannae. To elaborate a bit further:

1. The Den is a venue, not a place for the weary traveler to kick off his shoes and settle in for the night. True there will be things in common with the taverns such as getting a drink, socializing and a bar fight or two like at Brados, but it's a little bit more upscale than just a tavern... A little... ;)

Also the atmosphere will be much different. The Den is suppose to be a place of entertainment not just home away from home, so we hope to have attractions(events) that showcases various entertainment (no mud wrestling fenkis, you know you aren't going to clean the mess later.  :P ). Ideally it would showcase player talents like singers, but that will require the community to step up.

Another small feature is that the Den offers custom liquor, unique to the Den, now. We don't wait for the new model releases. ;)(but it's still in the realm of what settings could add)  And over time I'll have Tel expand the liquor selection. I'd love to offer mixed drinks as well, but we might have to reach out to other players for that. ;)

There will be a certain standard of RP maintained. This is not to say we will be strict RP disciplinarians but certain RPs will not be allowed. Not to mention we will work to  keep /me throws a pie in your face (even though there are no pies around) down. As it stands right now, if there is an RP that is inappropriate or off settings, we use a kind OOC correction to help, instead of just saying the person is wrong. Yelling [Stupid Noob that doesn't exist!] is just as inappropriate and also will not be tolerated. As for OOC pains, if necessary a GM will be called to remove them... Running around the Den spouting gibberish from mashing every key will not be tolerated.

The Den will be a safe place for all people to RP but there are standards, like being settings compliant, that must be maintained. So far the bulk of the Den's customers have been able to abide by these rules and others have since come to follow them, so I figure none of this is too burdensome. If anyone has doubts about whether or not they can stand by this, they should come by the den and see for themselves. They won't get run out or anything and if they don't like it they can leave right back out at anytime, no harm no foul.

2/3. Ideally we'd have the Den unlocked all the time but that might take some extra mechanics to make work... *cough* Like Containers that only allow you to take out the items you put into it. *cough* :whistling: As Dannae has said, we've had that problem several times actually. However, once there is no chance of loosing expensive items (yes mugs are expensive :S and it would be appreciated if people returned them once they are finished with their drinks) then we would like to have it open all the time.

For now though, there needs only be a bartender on duty to have the place open.

Too bad you don't have an npc to use as a vending machine. .. like an invisible kikiri  O--)
Isn't banking enabled in game ? I thought you could leave items with a banker npc? If so, then that kikiri could perform that service too.
Should not be too much trouble to set up .. unless the invisibility switch makes it impossible to interact withthe npc?

Safe from getting harassed by someone's RP or about your own RP. Not any kind of RP will fly there but by the same token, no telling people to get off the RP server either. ;)

And a GM will have to answer the particulars of that, but it would be odd to have and invisible kikiri there. o.O Not to mention that would have people coming to abuse it as eventually someone would stumble across it.

Well, you would stick it in a convenient place behind the counter. I'm assuming that a chest or a box could not act as an npc and sell you supplies. thats why I mentioned a character type.

Anyone who comes in to  abuse, or mention an invisible character that is only known of OOCly should be kicked out or banned for the day. Such an NPC could be made invincible or something. The reason for a kikiri would be its size and as a subtle  back reference to LP :)

 :P Lh... Pepito...

Yeah, that would start up the Ban dance and we'd have no time for serving drinks for watching out for mug stealing abuses. We already have had that problem, we need something to stop that from happening. :p I think maybe a Chest with a lock on it might work... I'm sure the locks that exist for lockpicking might work as they were supposed to be for containers anyway. We'll see.

Mug stealing ?

No, no... you make it charge whatever it would normally charge a player. This way there is no gain to a player using it.  For that matter, anyone could access it.. but anyone who accesses it and says so would be ooc and thus look stupid.

As for bans, just jack up its stats. Give it 5,000 in str, agi, end, etc.. and a pair of q300's, armor etc.. anyone who tries to f with it would get one-shotted on the spot ( regardless of their stats ). Problem solved.

Well then how would that help the bartender if it's the same price? Not much of a vendor that way. :P And the people that would be inclined to take advantage of it are most likely to be the people that don't care about looking OOC. I doubt anyone would try to kill the thing but having a fighting NPC that vends mugs would be very OOC too. :P We just need a way of keeping the mugs in the Den. It would be funny if a person would be barred from leaving the Den if they had a mug from the Den in their inv. It could give a message like "you think you are forgetting something". ;D But that would require the Den having special mugs and some other mechanics.

Good to see the place up and running again.  I wish you the best of luck.  For equipment, for now staff can just make a stop with Willam before coming to work.  He's just around the corner anyway.

Maybe this issue will "encourage" devs to get the whole locking feature with chests and other containers working.   :whistling:

Another idea is a Stonehead style pantry.  Not sure of how having a guild house inside a guild house (in terms of mechanics) would fly.  But worth discussing.

Yeah, you can't do a guildhouse inside of a guildhouse I'm afraid. We are trying to get it worked out though. My character is too weak to carry enough mugs so...  :-\ We'll see. :sweatdrop:

Sorry, it's the nature of a game in development.
