Client says to update, but already updated

My version is 0.4.03, and I am trying to update... looking forward to playing the game after a long time  .. and I apparently updated files when I ran the uploader, but when I started the client it says to update it. What do I do ?

You should download 0.5.4 from the downloads page.
You can't update your version to the latest.

Edit: Problem fixed, Apparently I dled the 64 bit version not the 32, the 32 installed fine.

When I downloaded the 0.5.4 client and ran it I got this error when it tried to install VC +++8 Runtime:

There has been an error.
Error running C:\Program Files\Planeshift/vcredist_x64_08.exe /q: Program ended with an error exit code
The application will exit now.

Additionally when I tried to have it install to a different directory in Program Files, I get the same error.
what should I do?
