Quest/Progress Journal
« on: July 08, 2003, 09:25:01 pm »
Being quite new to the forums, I\'m not sure how much this topic has been discussed. However, I\'d like to throw in my two cents and see what people think.

I\'d like to see characters come with their own journal. This would be accessed from a button or keyboard shortcut, in the same way you would open your inventory or magic book.

The journal could have several different uses. Players could write their own entries, like a diary, or simply use it to note useful information they want to remember later on.

Aswell as this, Quest journal entries may be automatically entered whenever the player receives or completes a new quest. This would help you to keep track of quests you\'ve started and which still need to be completed.

An index at the front of the book would be welcomed for ease of use. Quests could have titles which can be accessed or \'zoomed to\' by clicking the title in the list. Basically, think Morrowind. :)

So, enough about my ideas. What do you think?

This was discussed very briefly.
I like yor ideas Mogura, I think that some kind of journal that contains quests and recipes is a must. Also, I would like every player to have a book, where other players could write, say hello, or just show their gratitude.
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Yes and it would be little hassle for the server if these files were stored client-side and not server-side. :)

While I do like the idea of having a journal/quest log.. i hope it isnt the same idea as in Morrowind.  Being the type of player that likes to do every quest imaginable... i found that the journal became rediculously large and hard to find stuff.. especially once you hit the 100+ page mark and had to find something 20+ pages back....

I really liked how the quest info was laid out in Fallout 2.  You could click on a city, and there would be a 1 sentence description for each of the quests that were done with a check/no check beside them to show if they were done or not.  With that I think it would be good to be able to click on these short descriptions and be able to see an extended version plus being a section where you could add your own notes etc.
