There will be the third option that those that want to play with real stats will make an exception when they know they are dealing with an evil Boss in an RP.

So...what's an evil boss?  ???

First, I'm extremely new here.  However, I've been perusing the forums and happened to stumble upon this thread, which covers a topic I've been somewhat curious about.  What makes a game exciting to me is conflict, and so I assume that I will most likely find myself in a fight or two before too long.  I have to ask what is most likely a ridiculous question, so I beg forgiveness for my glaring ignorance.

Is there a problem with the PVP system that (I assume) is in place?  It was my understanding that PVP could occur between two characters if the duel was agreed to (I assume by clicking a button on a pop up menu of some sort).  Is this true, or am I mistaken?

Is there a problem with the current system so that a player implemented system is necessary?  Or is this simply being discussed to add a bit more story to a fight?

First, allow me to welcome you to PS Dmitri.

Some players prefer not to use the PvP system as it is a bit harder to RP it. That is talking between swings, detailing the wounds and reaction to them, etc.. That is not to mean that PvP is not used in some RPs. My character has died twice as a consequence to such RPs. She has also killed another using the 1d6 system explained in the original post.

There are yet others that RP battles without dice or PvP mechanics.

My advice would be to put your preferences in the OOC section of your character's description. The general rule of thumb seems to be that if one approaches you for an RP that your wishes would be respected or some compromise worked out. If you approach another it is good form to except their preference.

The different RP Combat Styles exist, likely, for two reasons. The first is simply the preference of the individual players. The second is that PvP came along later in game development and prior to that all RP combat was done is straight storyline by my understanding.

So, if I may be allowed to derail the thread a little further, what happens at the end of the fight when a death occurs?  How would one player be sent to the Death Realm, or are these things worked out between the two involved?  Do most duels end with one conceding to the other, and being allowed to limp away?

Edit:

Also, thank you kindly for the welcome  :D  So far all have been very friendly and welcoming, and I'm already greatly enjoying this game!

some players who run evil characters like RP fights since they realize their evil character may have a short life span in game and they don't want to spend the time and money to develop the skills so their evil character would have a fair chance in a PvP fight. Some players just  like a RP fight better than a PvP fight. As for what happens in the end that depends on the players. Most PvP fights end up with one character yielding to the other and everyone lives. sometimes the winner will kill the loser. In RP fights is depends on how the players want the story line to play out.

My character's RP duel ; mentioned above; ended with the opponent using the /die command once defeated by the dice.
