Jobs in Planshift
« on: September 21, 2010, 11:05:04 pm »
I have a character, is a wizard seeking the dark, brow and blue way, and  have some skill with armors and weapons.
That is clear for me but... , What job I should choose fo my character?
Well, first i asked for alchemy in gossip and they said to me that alchemy is useless in the game, after i asken for mason but I
won't see me building walls... I read the rest of the list, and in conclusion.
I no have any idea of jobs in Planeshift.
So I ask here, for hints I dont know what is the best way in Planeshift, Im vey very confused.
If this can be of help, I lke magic, and engeneering. So my character is something like  a person who can make a rifle, and can summon undeads at the same time,
and can make magical things. But not focused in combat.

Note:I'm from Spain if my english is too bad I only can say

Welcome in Planeshift!
some skills or jobs are useless at the moment because not yet implemented by the game...  fishing works, though  :P

someday alchemy will work, too. I'd say you may work with your skills at making weapons, armors... not rifles... ;D

Role Play is the key, for your character. Nobody stops you if you pretend to know alchemy,  of course; use your fantasy!  I've seen a Klyros, once... he had some potions with him, probably a healer... and others have some experience in making potions...  let's say is not a good idea overdoing things...

My character for example is learning metallurgy and crafting weapons. When you're at the furnace you spend a lot of time thinking about your past ad your future. you can always change your mind while playing, and your character can RP this change of interest in some way...

Don't worry about your english, we are from all over the world, the players are really kind, not everyone is a typist, and you'll be better after a while Guaranteed  ;)

Please notice: Necromancy is a punishable crime by the Octarchal Decree anno ... something. You'll find that book in Hydlaa.

But it is your decision if your character cares about that. We don't need heroes only... hmm, well. We don't need "only heroes or villains" either. Don't be afraid to be average sometimes. Average people are those we lack most... ;)

Rifles are probably not to be implemented very soon. But I hear rumours that "bow making" might become popular. Bows and arrows became available not too long ago.

I was thinking on a housing system in the game, but i must have a week of experience in the game.

I have see some works like mason, that do very weird things,(Why i will want, build a wall?)but if have noticed that some works are "pacifics" and the rest are focussed on weapon making. I don't have anything to say on that, but If I can I prefer to be a sorcerer Who make those thing that I said and offers his services for some money. Humilty that's only that i want to have in the game, if I want to be a necromancer-engineer, I will offer my service for money or for more altruist reasons.

So I don't was thinking on being a blacksmith or a miner, I was thinking on a alchemist because is the way more near to my likes.  I fear that when I start a way change my way will be hard or impossible when I'm more advanced in Alchemy or other things.

We will enjoy you roleplaying your services. No matter if they will be technically implemented sooner or later. :)

And the Octarchy will enjoy banishing (and possibly do worse to) your character, should he ever be caught in a Burial Well or committing necromantic arts. So be careful who you offer your services to ;)
Going to the Iron Temple makes you as much of a Laanx follower as going to Harnquist makes you a furnace.
