« on: January 12, 2011, 02:51:36 pm »
well then, hello to all.
i'm not quite good at presentations, and i'll keep it short.
i'm an italian university student, therefore i'll be mostly online during weekends, i'm playing on the rp server and hope to have a nice stay.
post scriptum: i also signed up for the settings department, due to my past experiences with medieval videogames and tabletop ones. and storytelling.
hope to see you all in-game one day or another, bye!

Welcome.

Italian, eh? So you are in good company with the founder, Luca Pancallo a.k.a. Talad, and the current main developer, weltall.

Of course we will enjoy you as Settings developer, if you are accepted. But at first we are more interested in you as player...

as a player i am a proud human skilled in the dark ways who still needs to find his weaponry of mass destruction.
i loved a bard whom i lost somewhere on the road, and have seen wonders all around.
i appear as a gentle man, ready to help, but my dark side will be revealed only under the most reassuring conditions...of my success.

Another of so many super heroes and super villains. ;)

Well, I'll be curious about his "average joe" face.

oh no, there is no such thing as a superhero or a super villain.
there is only humanity, and it's neverending tale of madness, darkness, and descent in beastiality and gruesome acts never to be mentioned again.
ops...here i go ranting again...was a cthulhu dungeon master once...it get's to you a little.

did a few quests, looked around a bit...got lost.
...
truly lost.
it's quite funny indeed. i was looking for the NORTH exit...but not a sign. so, i ended up in the plains god knows where, certainly high leveled zone, since the critter i met, decided i should be his lunch. But i had other plans...running plans. so i made it safe out.
so back to the question that i wanted to make...where is this north exit? it should be north, but at north, i only see a strange metallic structure...

post scriptum...i'm quite sorry to point out one thing also...why do all npc have a need to talk politely? i mean. i can understand the accultured men, but wouldn't it be better to have the smith say "fetch me a couple of apples, would ya? i'm busy right now and could really use a snack!" ... being asked two apples by a smith in an oxford-like english...gives away reality.

did an npc mention "north exit"? looks like you got a bug because it shouldn't be called north. anyway it's where is the tall tower.

not just that, it was even in the "friends letter" and so forth. it was in quite a few places that i don't recall them all, so, it's where there is a tall tower in the city, or in the plains?

when a large number of players barely understand plain english  :P I think is a wise choice.
Personally I love dwarfs inflection, but I really understand very little, and it's frustrating!  :)

The team and the code base really needs to be on the same page regarding references to cardinal directions. Its a major unfriendly point about the game. If you insist on not calling them north, south, east and west then make up four new words to describe them with. Cardinal directions exist whether you believe in them, or not.

East Hydlaa - named after former Vigesimi East Stronghand, North Hydlaa should be called Upper Hydlaa.

And about Ojaveda, it's better to say East, West, Central, North or South than right, left, up and down. But that's why we have the Dsar names. So, Akkaio East could be Akk_ware, or wdistrcits (warehouses disctrict), Akk_central is good, then stbazaar, or Akk_merc fpr the Steel Bazaar, then Kore_low and Kore_up, for the two sections of the Dsar. Just my 2 and a half trias.
