Custom actions
« on: June 03, 2003, 01:53:42 am »
Just like the game(or chat, whatever) called Roomancer, how about making custom actions by editing the model movement? You could make your own custom sitting action in chairs, crouching, etc. this would be good for adding stealth to some parts. You could be crouching over a rock or laying down with a bow, you could shoot monsters without them noticing you.

Laying on the ground while you shoot monsters with a bow?
I didn\'t even know that was possible :D

of course it is ...you only have to hold the bow horisontally instead of vertically :]

i already asked for laying and sitting, and AFAIR one of the devs said it could be implemented ...so let\'s hope for the best

hook,

Was anything said about a possible accuracy bonus for kneeling or lying prone?  That could make archery assassination very fun.

for bows, sling and and throwing weapons lying should give  an accuray penalty. for bow and some throwing weapons also range penalty. You must consider how you fire.

for bow: You simply cant pull the arrow the full way back. And it is much harder to hold the bow horizontal than vertical.

for sling: rotate the sling while lying is very hard.

for throwing weapons: while lying you cant use the full radius (your arm) to accelerate the weapon. (except for stone like weapons, darts and knifes)

only the crossbow and blowpipe should get an accuray bonus while lying.

oh and if they take such bonus/penalties while lying in PS, the devs should reverse the Bonus/Penalties for standing. i.e. bow is more accuray and crossbow is less accuray while standing.

Ya, but what about a custom action editor? it allows you to edit the model\'s movements. you could make any kind of action.

The idea is good. But it will be hard to organize.
BTW how works it in Roomancer?

In roomancer, it works like this: you select the body part and set the rotate value, etc. its really simple.

No standing bonus   should be straight up.  archers are usually the most powerful \'class\' in any game
