Your
character or you the
player? This only reinforces my feeling that complaining about the winch quests is from the perspective of the
player and not the
character; as is taking the short cut DR route.
From my experience as a rpg GM, there are players who only know how to play an alter ego of themselves. That's fine. Yet my suggestion would be to step outside of that alter ego character and try to play something that has a life of its own, desires of their own and reactions of their own.
As to seeing other characters ride by you daily is like a surf seeing a knight ride by on a mount. Mounts are a status symbol; as is winch access. To play one's character towards that goal is one thing; yet wanting it once one gets into the game is another in my opinion; unless you are trying to play a child of a well connected Hydlaa family.
