Cannot switch to new server

After playing PS off and on for about a year and a half I find that I can no longer access the world. I have tried everything I have seen posted in the forums in regards to switching to the new server all to no avail. As a result I have decided to leave the game. Maybe in the future when this issue has been resolved I will return. PS has brought me many hours of fun and enjoyment. As well as introducing me to some awesome people. I have played primarily on the non-rp server and had a blast. Even when I was the only one online. I wish everyone involved with the development and continuation of PS all the best. And hope to see PS in it's finished state. I have no doubt this will be an even greater game than it is now.

0) Close your PlaneShift client
1) Go to your Planeshift main folder
2) Go to data folder
3) Open the file server.xml
4) Delete all text in there
5) Add this text instead:

6) save the file, and restart your client.

I am attempting to play on a Mac and signed up just today, but upon loading the game I came across this issue.  Checked here on the forum and followed your directions; however, I can only use Dreamweaver to edit the .xml, and the program is telling me access is denied to the file.
Also just tried running the updater and got this:

I realize the game is still a work in progress but...as a newcomer this is rather off-putting.

My problem is, the Planeshift folder and all its contents are Read-Only as they're still on the disk image.
For some reason I can't copy or duplicate the Planeshift folder to my harddrive.  I tested other installer .dmg files such as Google Chrome and am able to move the application to the HD, but Planeshift is strangely unable to be transferred.

I had the access denied problem as well. Found I had blocked myself from saving the changes to servers.xml.
 Had to right click the file and change acces through properties first.

I can't change the access properties of the files or folders :s

You can't change the access permissions on the dmg. You should just be able to open the dmg and drag the planeshift file there into your applications folder, or desktop. What happens when you try to drag the planeshift folder into your applications folder?

Thanks Venalan. I tried your suggestion and it worked perfectly. I had to completely replace the server .xml as I wasn't able to modify it. Nice to be back in Yliakum.
