Lost Pet

Before I downloaded 0.5.9, I had completed the quests necessary to get a pet drifter.  After downloading 0.5.9, I am unable to summon any pets at all.  I have restarted the Ring of Familiar quest.  Levrus is asking for a golden ring again, which is incredibly difficult to procure.  When I attempt to summon a familiar, I get a comment saying "You have no familiar to command," which was not true before. Is there an easier way to resolve this than repeating all of the quests again?

I don't think there's been a quest wipe since 0.5 as my familiars still have their original names.. I don't recall having to redo the mount quests. Is it possible that perhaps that you don't have the ring of familiar equipped?  Also, sometimes summoning pets by name does not work, or the wrong one is summoned. I assume you tried just a plain /pet summon    without specifying which one? ie. /pet 0 summon,  /pet 1 summon,  /pet 2 summon

( I think that syntax is right... can't check it at the moment. )

Thank you for the suggestions, but I have tried each of those, and none have worked. I do have the ring equipped. I believe that I finished the Drifter quest after 0.5, so I agree it was probably not an intentional quest wipe.

You were online lately? Maybe you were on ezpc, which seems to be the last loss of mounts I remember. Actually, I was not there at that time, due to this problem

Anyways, a number of people in game will gladly help you out with rings. Ask a friendly guild .

Having a similar issue: After completing the quests for the Rivnak and Drifter I summoned the Rivnak.  I was not able to dismiss it and logged off with it summoned.  Since then I have not been able to summon it using "/pet 1, summon".  Now today I was riding my fugly drifter and for some reason while riding out by the eagle bronze doors it threw me off and killed me on flat ground?  Now I am unable to summon it either.  When I try "/pet 1, summon" or "/pet 2, summon" I get the message "The power of the ring of familiar is currently depleted, it will take more time to summon a pet again."  Oddly enough I am able to summon my Yulbar without issue this only is a problem with the mounts.

Any suggestions or is a petition in order?

Sounds like yur ring has been deplete and you need more time to replenish the power before you can summon your mount again. Each creature, Pet, Rivnak, drifter has their own power in the ring so you can deplete your ring for a mount but still be able to summon you pet. Sounds like you depleted yourring while riding your mount. Building empathy will allow you to summon your pet/mount for a longr time and more often before depleting your ring.

As for your rivnak it sounds like you had your drifter summoned while the completing the quest for your rivnak. That causes a big or a duplicate mount that can't be unsommoned. the normal fix is killing the mount that can't be dismissed but that make that mount unavailable until a server restart unfortunately it seems.

Okay, I think you are correct about the Drifter.  I am able to summon it once again.  I didn't know that the power to summon pets was specific to the familiar, however I am still unable to summon the Rivnak. 

As far as having the drifter summoned while finishing the quest for the Rivnak; I acquired the Rivnak first so this could not have happened.  I am still unable to summon it and not sure how to kill it as it is nowhere to be found...

Sarva meant that usually a GM kills the pet, because a player can't kill it while he can't even summon it.

Most of what has been discussed here may have been done a lot faster in-game. Sarva belongs to the GMs which don't hide from the "/who" command and the Buddy List, and you can also ask in the IRC channel #planeshift-gmtalk on FreeNode when she is not in-game.
