Hello, joining in the Planeshift World today.

Greetings! Normally I would have made my in-game name July but seeing as I cannot in this, my name is "Paprika Ashheart" in-game.
My character is a Ylian female who has a very average father and mother. Daughter of a blacksmith and a tailor. Her family lived in a small but safe village. During her childhood her family made a large move, et cetera.

Basically, she wants to follow in the footsteps of her father and become a blacksmith, though if she could she wants to be at least a tiny bit better than him. She loves her father very much, and feels he is very passionate about his work.. though knowing he has only produced average goods all of his career makes her feel something is missing. She wants to take her father's passion, make it her own.. blood, sweat and tears style. She wants to do the very very best she can, giving every ounce of her emotion and life into her productions as a full-fledged, full-time blacksmith.

Ideally, she wants to find a small village or town and become their personal smithy. She is very loyal, and has ideas of servitude and honor. She believes in "the people" politically, and wants to serve for all. She is very selfless. She desires strong friendships and to be trusted as well as relied on for her job and loyalty.

In game I am currently completing tutorial, but I would like to know if anyone is interested in roleplaying with me. I am not incredibly good, but if you would like me to join your town and become your dedicated blacksmith, I will do the best I can to improve my skill and show my passions through my roleplaying. Since I am new to PlaneShift as a game, I am not sure how excellent I will be at blacksmithing as I have been told it is very difficult to become especially good.. so I cannot promise that kind of dedication.. however, I can promise I will do my best to roleplay the job of blacksmith and be the role for anyone's village or traveling group if they desire it. If worse comes to worse I can simply make -something- to sell for a group and such. I really just want companionship and a stable group of friends somehow.

I know it's quite a lot to ask for, but I will do my best! ^^

Welcome to Planeshift! I'm sure people will be happy to interact and roleplay with you, though for clarification, there aren't really many individual "villages" in which you could become to local blacksmith. You could, however, become a blacksmith for a specific guild or group of people, I imagine without too much hassle. Whatever else defines your character will help you pick whichever guild or group she would fit in best with!

Mariana, thank you for replying! Your reply has been helpful to me.

I didn't realize that about villages, as I read a description of the game once to say that each person could have their own homes.. and "guilds" were used to refer to villages.

I wil ladapt myself regardless, and hopefully fit well into a small group of people. I wish I could be a good smith for them, otherwise I feel my character would be deadweight. I wil ltry to make up for that with my roleplaying "skills."

Hi. Welcome to Yliakum. You will certainly find good teachers for smithing, after you learned the basics from Harnquist. And you will surely also find people who can help you solving all the other issues you may face during the coming months. But get to know the reputations of guilds first before joining one; not all of them may be a fortunate choice.

Already summarized before several times: In PlaneShift, you may quest, you may level skills, you may craft ... but you really should play a role. I believe you already understood, so I hope we will enjoy meeting.

I am excited to hear that I will be able to become resilient in a craft.. but that was indeed not my purpose for joining.
I essentially wanted to find a community that would accept my idea of smithing in their group, and work as my character's description was written above. I am not so focused on the elements of the game .. like quests, skills and such. I want to play a role, and that is why I am here. In that, I will do my very best.

I am sure our meeting will be pleasant.. at least on my end. Hopefully it pleases you, too.

Get out and do some exploring, meet new people, and don't be afraid to ask for help.  Like Mariana mentioned, there's plenty of guilds around the game, and there's always a need for a good smith.  Don't just join up with the first guild or group that offers you in; get out and learn about several, as there's plenty of great options around.

Concerning groups / guilds / cities, if you're a Dwarf you could perhaps consider joining the Bloodstone Brethren, a Clan with crafters & warriors which work for better of all, especially our own race.
