pssetup.exe crashes
« on: June 11, 2003, 05:01:08 am »
Hi,

I downloaded PS, but pssetup.exe crashes at start time, with a message that it generated a (Dr. Watson) log file (pasted in the end of this email).

I can still run PS itself (psclient.exe), but it says: \"No hardware acceleration\", and that makes it unusable (tooooo slow). I have a Matrox G450 DualHead, and I\'ve downloaded the latest drivers for it. I\'ve also downloaded some OpenGL test programs, and things seems to work a-ok, so I guess the problem is that I can\'t set it up. Is there another way to tell PS to use my card\'s acceleration?

BTW, I\'ve run the \"update\" thing...

(The forum does not allow me to post the thing with the entire log... I\'ll have to abridge. If you want the whole thing, just let me know)

Any help?

Thanks.

Zorzella

FYI, I\'ve booted the same computer under Linux, and now pssetup works, and psclient recognizes the accelerated hardware (which makes the game much more playable).

BTW, it does not look to me that hardware accel detection depends on running pssetup (though I may be wrong)...

So no one knows what causes this yet?  I have windows ME and a sucky on board video card and want to switch between OPENGL and what not, but the setup crashes...

Anyway to stop the crash, or even change the video mode ingame?
