If u do a search u will notice that it isnt the server... PS doesn\'t uses very much bandwith, but the client has bugs that make it hack or \"lag\"..

Very true. Also noteworthy is the fact that, on a server that could happily support thousands of players simultaneously, only as many as 30-35 people are ever online at the same time. The lag is not \'lag\'- it\'s game performance issues, ones which will (very hopefully) be fixed in upcoming client versions.

I noticed that the game speed doesn\'t seem to be any different between my Athlon XP 1700+ with GF2MX200 and my Athlon TBird 1000 with Rage128.  Why\'s that?  It feels like an occasional network stall.  Is it just really bad network code somewhere?

I definitely notice the hacking you\'re talking about, tho.  The Linux version seems to suffer more.  In fact, it seems like the faster your computer is, the slower the stall.  :-p  I\'ve written code like that in some of my bigger DOS software, but I really couldn\'t tell you off hand what kinds of mistakes caused it.  (Relatively subtle, I remember that.)
Read my Say\'s Law paper on my homepage!
I\'m here to test Linux PS and maybe find a friend or even a girlfriend, and jump from rooftop to rooftop.  ;-)

Kluger: I know very little on technical issues other than what knowledge I\'ve picked up by reading these forums, but I have heard people say that it is infact \'bad netcode\', like you suggested.

You said + friends said = must be true, in Moogie\'s mind :)

Most of the \"lag\" comes from the game itself, since the code is far from \"clean\".
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Which has been said sooooooooo many times! Why don\'t people get it the first time...? I know some of them are new, but since the \"lag\", as they call it, is such a debated subject why don\'t they just find it in one of the numerous threads around here??

come on people, at least act as if you are part of an intelligent race! :P
