Downloading Problems
« on: October 17, 2003, 02:42:43 am »
Hi,
I\'m new, but you probably already new that, well anyway when I go to download the files my browser doesn\'t regonize the files.  I\'m using Netscape b/c my IE won\'t work, but thats a different story.  I know they are big but thats not the case although it\'ll take me longer to get them.  BTW once I get them and figure out how to install them how do I register?

It takes 43 muscles to frown and it takes only 3 to extend your arm and Smack the idiot.

Hey there,

You can create your account ingame, so you don\'t have to worry about that just yet.

As for your download problem I\'m afraid I do not use Netscape so I don\'t really know much about it or how to fix your problem.
Unless someone else has a better solution I can give you this url for the complete file: http://www.fragnetics.com/download.php?file=planeshift

Hope it works and that maybe someone has a better solution.

Follow the instructions detailed in the Player\'s Guide on the website.

If you receive a Linkdead error, click here.

If you receive a Database error, click here.

If anything else happens, run a Search, and I guarantee it\'s already been answered at least 100 times before. ;)

i\'ve downloaded both the 1 file verson and the multiple file versons twice and they still come up corrupt. btw it takes like 28 hours to download these things lol, so it makes me kinda mad.  on the seperate file download i downloaded the program that is supposed to tell you which download you need to redownload but when i open it it just opens and shuts down really fast :S  so i just download all 6 files again and still get the same message lol

The signature checker must be used in a certain way. Simply double clicking the file and expecting it to check the files itself won\'t work. This program wasn\'t created solely for the purpose of checking PS\'s part files- it can be used by anyone and any file.

Therefore, I think there is most likely a Readme.txt file included with the program that will explain what needs to be typed. If there is not, open a DOS prompt and run the file. It should come up with some \"proper use\" instructions for you. Because you\'re running a DOS prompt, this text will stay there in the screen so you can actually read it.

I hope this helps some. If the instructions don\'t appear and there\'s no readme file, I\'ll see what I can do to dig up the info. Good luck. :)

There is no readme file included, and there are also no instructions for the file when executing it with the ? command.

What you will want to do is open a DOS prompt, navigate to the directory where your .part files and the md5sum.exe are stored.
Now, execute the md5sum file with the file you want to check (ex. md5sum psv0.2.010.part1). This will give you the string which you can compare to the ones given on the site.

Edit: just a little tip, if you want to check all the files at once so you don\'t have to type this out for every file use this: md5sum psv0.2.010.part*

Hope this helps :)
