Flails. Flails are a must.
« on: December 17, 2003, 07:57:04 pm »
Right. I, for one, enjoy wielding a sturdy flail in an RPG game more than swords. RPG\'s are usually filled with shortswords, daggers, bastard swords, two-handed swords, katanas etc, but really, how many times do you see flails in them? And I\'m talking about the good ol\' spikeball-attached-to-a-pole-with-a-chain-type of flails. One of those would be nice in a 1st person game such as this. Wouldn\'t it?

it\'s both 1st and 3rd person perspective :)
And flails should be implemented someday... look at description of \"Mace & Hammer\" skill :)

Great flails

The great thing about flail-weaponry is, that you can definently play a burly ogrish character with feeling when walzing around with a huge flail. A good death animation is also a plus, an kobold or whatchamacallit going down from a bash in the head is a bit odd to watch if the little guy just makes a \"gnarl\" sound and drops dead. People always appriciate work done to the last.

The best about chain-weapons, like the flail, is they can go around shields and hit the person, who hold the shield. If we have flails, i want them with this ability.

flais and maces are definitly great weapons.
The brutal inpact on your victim and its (extremely) small accuracy makes it indeed great weapons.

They surely will be implemented in PS, since the team tries to add a great vary of items in the game. it just takes time...

But what items would really make great, would be their realism. Like sword, hammers, axes and other weapons/item, there are loads of different flais and maces. Each \'designed\' for their own purpose...

A little medieval weapon history/ research will give you loads of weapons and (bloody) ideas, some of which you\'ve never heard of before :)

I know of one type of pike, (yes I want this in the game 2 :D ) which was designed so that first it scewered the person through the middle, then its hook got attached the the spine. Because of the nature of the iron used, the pike stuck to the spine, ripping it out of the person being hit. That would be such a gr8 thing to have in game, imagine all the blood guts and spines floating around?! :P
