another "lagging" problem
« on: January 03, 2004, 11:35:02 pm »
Ok. I am also having a lagging problem with the game. Now, this is not the internet lagging problem as I have a cable modem (my ping on Desert Combat, a BF 1942 mod, with about 30 players, averages at about 50). Now, this game with 16bit color and at a resolution of 800x600, it lags around horribly (like UT2k3 turned up on a TNT2). My stats are:

AMD Athlon XP 200+
ECS K7SEM Motherboard (don\'t know why this matters)
512 mb RAM (I assume its ddr, never really found out/cared)
Windows 2000 professional
GeForce FX 5200 (pci regrettebly, may return to friend and go back down to a GeForce 4 mx 420, agp, till I can buy a nice little Radeon 9800)
Cable

I don\'t see why it would lag (though the textures are extremely high detail). It lags the most at night and when the day is changing.

Any suggestions? I had some ideas, but no way to implement them: go in and turn off dynamic shadows (if there are any) and possibly turn down some of the texture detail.

Other states are trying to abolish the death penalty... My state [Texas] is putting in an express lane.
