Verrliit\'s tail thrashes, and her claws extend, as bright threads of miniature lightnings surround her.  The sky turns black with roiling clouds, and the wind begins to howl, like the tortured souls of the damned.

Verrliit pauses, her head tilting slightly to one side, and the special effects subside...

I know it will be done eventually.  But Xyl, the extended separation from the PS world, is beginning to make me cranky.

(EDIT:  IT\"S BACK UP!)

You are all much safer now.

We could have a hundred servers but if they all have the same software bug it would not make much of a difference :)

Acraig, the issue is not bugs and crashes, but extended downtime.  It does make a huge difference, to us, the players.

or actually it would be a big issue if we actually _paid_ *twitch* something to play this game.

so sit back. *twitch* relax. all the finer *twitch* things in life *twitch*made better for the *twitch* anticpation.

Extended down time is because of the bugs.  If we had 10 servers all running the same server code with the same bugs they would all crash just as fast.  What we could do is have 2 servers running in parallel. One with the old ( stable version ) and one with the latest build.  But then it gets complicated to stuff like transfer characters.  It is something we will get better at doing over time.

This is precisely what I was trying to express in my post. It seems some of you vastly underestimate what it means to synchronise two servers. It takes a lot of work to get the initial synchronization done and to make sure it won\'t break. Even one single item that is lost will create a mayhem of whining that is just as bad as the whining about downtime.

Seriously, I am quite impressed by the devs getting the server up so fast this time!

What you seem to be completely missing is that the devs work on it in their spare time, not full time. When all you have are four hours a day, an additional task that takes three hours to complete is a lot. This is why preventing downtime really is unimportant compared to actual development, and I really wonder how anyone can be so egoistic to demand it when they know that it will adversely affect development and thus harm everyone.

I heartily agree. Remember, this is a tech demo, a pre-alpha thing, and we are lucky even to be abl to play it at all! Mose people would not like people playing tech demos because of all the whining (AWW gawd you can\'y even do COMBAT and theres like 3 Charachter models done UGH gross)

We are very lucky to have this awesome-already game playable and a few days of downtime should be *twitch* bearable..  :P

Servers are no simple thing! Each one costs a ton of money and for someone to donate it(!) that is very generous. Just remember, not doing the double server means the game will get things done just that much faster..

Of course, it is really all talad and acraig and the other\'s fault for cooking up a game so addicting and fun that people start going crazy when they can\'t play for a few hours but  :D
