Host for music
« on: March 27, 2004, 03:42:20 pm »
So I made a song for Planeshift and thought I could send it to the Laanx Wheel Of Wishes, but I don\'t seem to find any good place to upload the file. I made it a ogg file (as told) so mp3.com won\'t do any good i think. Maybe someone can help me with this? I use brinkster for uploading, but it can\'t upload a file like this over 1MB...

Do you just need someplace to hold it so that you can link to it from the LWW website?

i dont know anything about Brinkster so i cant help you there, but i do know that yahoo gives 15 megs of free net space.

Brinkster is a web site host, but as said there\'s this limit, unless I pay for a pro version or something. It gives 30MB free web space, but at least music files can not be uploaded if they are over 1MB, even if I zip it.

I\'ll try yahoo and upl.mine.nu and see if my problems gets solved.

And yes linking was what I was going to do.

You can make .mp3 file (don\'t worry, if song is approved for PS, we will ask you for .ogg), and upload to any of the following sites:
soundclick.com
mp3.com.au
besonic.com
(and many more...)
Of course, that will make your tracks available for public (perhaps, just a few listeners from the outside, not hundrends of fans ;) ). Such web-sites specialize in music storage, they are free, and fast enough, comparing to most of free hostings.

By the way, mp3.com is dead long since...

Ok upl.mine.nu didn\'t accept files over 1MB either so I tried yahoo, but the verfication didn\'t work for some reason and then I tried several other web site hosts, finally finding a place from angelfire which allows you to upload this kind of files and over 1MB.

And now you said it! :)
Thanks anyway for all the help!

Edit: I\'ll post it to LWW as soon as it is online again... For at least I can\'t get there at the moment.

Edit II: So they deleted my account in angelfire, must make a mp3.
