suggestions anyone???
« on: June 18, 2004, 10:51:16 am »
first, sorry I\'ve mostly been gone, we got the money to get SWG and I\'ve been playing on that for a while

as some of you know, I\'m an art student....

This took a lot of convincing by my wife. I personally feel that I have no talents, but as I was exploring a major I took a few art classes and enjoyed them. After a lot of cheering on by my wife I declared. last semester I did a rendition of Eschers \"hand with reflecting sphere\" with colored sections.

now here comes the problem. my wife loves that painting, and she bought a canvas so that i can do something specifically for her.

I havent got a single idea. and it\'s been three days since she bought it. if I put it off much longer she\'s going to thing I\'m putting it off to play my game... that\'s not true, I\'m just puzzling over a subject for the painting.

I need ideas people. help me out here.

paint your wife in a field with flowers and rays of sunshine

or an abstract loving embrace symbolizing the two of you.

or a rose.  just one rose.

or leave it blank and call it \"Light, on light, in light\" ...then sign it.

or devote many hours to doing nothing more than deriving inspiration.  no SWG, no PS, no what ever else it is you like to do.  she should appreciate it even more when it is finished.

and thats all i got... good luck.

all of my inspiration up to this point has been from other artistic sources, I\'ve mimiced artists that I enjoy. the problem is, I feel that this has to be something that\'s one hundred percent original or dani won\'t be satisfied. I really don\'t know where to go with it.

Well first of all, you know yourself the best what Dani is about and what your relationship means. So come on as an artist you can come up with something good right? Can\'t you just let your emotions flow or something? (Im no artist thats clear :D )

Hell i don\'t know what you could paint. Maybe something where you show how much her support means to you and/or how your love is eternal. Or a mutual interest, love for things.

I like the embrace and flower idea mentioned before.

Okay just two ideas, you two standing on top of a mountain or hill with a very nice view, like standing on the top of the world. Or perhaps a painting about a stroll of you two along the beach with a sun going down, or a moon.

But you probably worry to much about making it perfect which you shouldn\'t. Im sure if you just make something its going to be good. Just put your love for her on the painting.

Edit: you might also paint a very special moment in your relationship you two had.

Pah! Your wife your problem! I didn\'t ask you to marry her:P:D

I know what I would have liked had I been your or anyone\'s wife;) and that would be a huge painting of a dragonrider. In fact thats I only painting i want very much, wife or no wife.

Since you are confident in drawing from example you should prolly seek out somestuff you yourself like and put it on canvas. I mean how different can your wife\'s tastes be? She\'ll be happy for the gesture plenty too even if she doesn\'t like the painting. Or simply ask her what she would like to see, I am sure she\'d be glad to see you consulting her for ideas. Females dig being \"involved in the creative process\" or artsy-fartsy baloney like that. But then again I am a rambling moron so best figure it out yourself;):P.

Ok this is what you need to do! Exactly like this!

First find a street that is just rough looking at sunrise have your wife stand buck naked in the middle of the road turning her head looking at you! THEN HOLD THAT POSE WITH THE SUNSET coming UP UP UP through the citybuildings! Now you can paint!

This will only work if your wife is a exhibisionist!

paint a picture of the planeshift logo!! ...she\'ll LOVE it... she wont divorce you, i swear :P

you could brain storm some random abstract ideas on a piece of paper for a while and see if you come up with somthing you like...

or you could do what Auran said, and ask her what she would like to see....it is for her after all...

I\'ve found that asking what they want gets nowhere - my future wife likes surprises, and appreciates the thought behind the deed more than the result of the deed itself.

Making them do the thinking really takes the point out of it- she doesn\'t just want a painting (which she could buy), she wants an original tygerwilde, even if it sucks ;)

get a bunch of pictures of you together make a montogue of them and after all of the pasting paint a picture of the montague.

I have no idea if montague is the correct spelliing.
the word I am trying to spell is a word that means an artistic collection of pictures or images araanged as a single piece.
Or sumthin like that. :D

Brainstorm. It\'s a simple technique that\'s always worked for me. Don\'t forget to write down dumb ideas too.
