CHARACTER-Diaboli-Female
« on: July 31, 2004, 05:46:44 am »

New version, beefed up a bit.

-edit- changed the shade a tad, retextured blade, scanner lightened some areas as well.

The Blade of the Sword was crafted from a single crystal shard. Only found in the deepest of caverns, a crystal of such size are rare indeed. Equally as rare are those who have aquired the knowledge to craft such a Blade. For one without the proper technique would need to cast the shard aside and begin with another, thus any failure and the blade is useless. In this depictation of the Blade, it must be set, similar to a gem set into a ring. The sheath is of ring for flexability to house the blade as well as preventing the loss of a limb, in this case a leg... or two.

For the curious as to the strip of leather with a ring attached, which is tied to the leg... she prefers... the sense of weightlessness during ritualistic... uhh... breeding =O

-edit- per request of Icefalcon =)

-edit- The actual size of the head on the Diaboli above is the size of a dime, and a real pain to shade, so I provided a close up shot of another scrible below.

Q: How many Planeshifters does it take to expalin a simple concept to a newb?
A: Six. Five to argue on who\'s explanation is right, and Moogie to lock the thread.

Apparently you have an aptitude for characters as well as monsters.

Although I think the armour looks a bit weird. I guess I don\'t like different types of it on a character, but that\'s just me.

But other than that that\'s a great dipiction of Diaboli.

Amazing!!! Join the team right away!

One thing, I think the hips are a little too small. It is female, after all, make the hips bigger :P.

Again, I love it... she looks like she could kick my ass :)

LOL, ya should have seen it before I gave a little more back to her. In fact I took it to a point I prefer and the wife said to cut it back a bit. Yeah yeah I like big butts too... BIG =)

-edit- *cries* now the wife say\'s MORE butt, as well as chest, leg\'s and calves.... (think she\'s thinking for you guys) so I\'ll be working on a new one, but fear it will just be a human with horns and tail which I was try\'n to stay away from =/

Noo!! LOL, too bad the wife told you to cut back before.

Yeah, she needs to be a bit larger. According to the setting, Diaboli are supposed to have gorgeous, perfectly shaped bodies and have almost identical proportions to humans. Well, I think maybe the oily blackness of the skin could be emphasized. I like what you\'ve done now, though, and the tail really adds to the flow of the drawing. Hmm, just noticed, her bicep is HUGE :) Well anyway, I hope you get some ideas for your next drawing.

Nice scribble, I also like the little tattoo on her eye, it adds some character. Maybe some more butt and it\'ll be looking good :D.

Aye, new skeleton model I\'m working on now is true to human. Though it will probably be back to the skinny lil girl in time. EQ Elf babe was... well made to target men similar to the Beer babes, to draw upon customers as it\'s stereo typed that males play more than females. But studies showed about 51% of gamers are actually female, which ranged in games that you would find males playing. Though when Verant felt a little heat, the new version of the Elf female lost alot of...top side. As for her Bicep, I try to add alot when it comes to armor. Like cloth, padding, chain/scale/ring, then plate/over lapping plate and finally additional plate on top of that. So it tends to end up bulking out when all added together. I\'ve always been a HUGE fan of the armor in Excalibur, very bulky (dark iron), though their polished armor later in the movie was a tad bit thinned out =/.

Excellent job on doging detail on the hands. Chainmail, thou art thy saviour! :D

Seriously though, that is a VERY good concept sketch...

Did you work for Blizzard? 8o

And the best way of layering armors is:
Cloth - Your usual clothes, or a robe

Padding - With several pounds of metal armor on, and when maces/morning stars/flails would hit that armor, this is required to avoid seriously deep cuts. 10 pounds of metal, being whacked with about 10 pounds of metal with 60 pounds of force. Broken bones ensue...

Leather/Scalemail - scale is just metal rings/plates attached to leather. Not much better at protecting then leather, but good none the less...

Ringmail/Chainmail - both are basically the same thing, except ring mail uses FAR larger, thicker, and heavier rings of a metal. Chainmail has about 10 times the rings that ringmail does, but they\'re smaller and thinner. still able to take a heavy cut, though bashing will still hurt a hell of a lot.

Plated armor - the heavy stuff, this is what\'s used to deflect blows, not stop them. Armor is crafted in such a way that it would turn-aside a sharp blade, should it ever attempt to directly peirce the armor... which it usually couldn\'t, anyways, because it was half a inch thick, usually composed of multiple layers melted into eachother. Still, maces and flails would still dent it badly enough in acouple of fights so that the entire thing would have to be re-worked. War Axes would usually just stop and get stuck if the armor was thick enough and the swing didn\'t have much power behind it... but it usually wasn\'t thick enough to stop it all the way. usually got through the chainmail, too... 8o

A actual chest covering of chainmail costs about $400, IIRC. Plated armor costs thousands. THOUSANDS of dollars... If it\'s the real deal, that is. Movie armor is always cheap, and usually very thin, aluminum/plastic... painted with a steel color/texture ;)

And with my rant in your mind, if i see a drawing with a sword peircing a frontal chestplate, i will state that you are not drawing realistically...
And that you should\'ve drawn it slashing, cutting the plate in two. :D
Precious and beutiful, it is happy. The only time when it is not is when it is in a shape of a tear.

LOL, aye, only thing I\'d do would use arrows sticking out of the plate than swords. I do understand the proper sequence of layers for armor, but when I seen the movie as a kid, it just stuck with me ever since. So much so that as a kid I paused it and went frame by frame with my face plastered on the tv for hours. Probably why I need glasses now....that or my age is catching up wit me =/

K, it\'s in the dvd player again and the wife gunna man handle me for it.

Bah, guess I like big bulky armor like my babes with back... BIG and BULKY =) errr

DISCLAIMER : babes.. as in drawings ONLY and not real life. (love you hun, thats why I married you xoxo)

-edit- nay, never done any career in art of any kind.

I can barely keep up with these; I guess I missed this one, nice, she looks great!
Since you are doing Character models, could you do a Klyros? There isn?t a whole lot on them & with your talent; you could bring more depth & characteristics to the Klyros?
Quick link to Klyros page: http://www.planeshift.it/razkly.htm
Anyone else want him to do a Klyros?
