No target - Can't do anything
« on: August 19, 2004, 04:04:40 am »
I can now enter in the 3D world after some little problems ...
And I found a very good program to manage my firewall: FireWall Builder (http://www.fwbuilder.org/)

But now, I am in the world and I can\'t do anything. And I see a window:

Target

No Target

What does it means ?

I try all the keys of my keyboard, and all the things I can do with my mouse without response.
Is it normal

Actually my solution to leave this program is to do lon in in a text console and kill psclient-bin

It sounds like your character is trapped in a memory leak. Unfortunately this can be quite common in the Plaza (where your character first spawns into the world) and can be hard to escape. Try holding the up arrow for a few minutes and then waiting for the program to do something. It should eventually refresh the screen and show that you\'ve successfully moved a few steps...

If not, I\'m afraid I don\'t know what else to suggest. Hope this helps. :)

I have nothing much further to add, but psclient binaries work oddly, or not at all, depending on things like hardware and such... Should moogies suggestions not help, then try compiling from source (see http://www16.brinkster.com/acraig/buildmb.html)

ps: I didn\'t think that was a memory leak, just CEL becoming sluggish (read fossilized) at having so many entities to juggle since usually having a real live memory leak would cause a segfault eventually, but maybe I\'m wrong...

The binaries I used for playing are compiled from the sources. Because I have some problems when I used the others ...

So, I\'ll try the solution of Mogura, thanks
