Ahem  didnt sheath\'s sharpen the weapons when they were drawn from them...? and wernt they also used to stop the weapons rusting i believe the katana\'s in Japan were sharpened by the sheath\'s to make sure the blade never got dulled

Sheaths/Scabbards Would be a nice addition, even if the only advantage is roleplay, or a quick draw function (press a key out comes the sword, otherwise mess about with the inv).

Adding magic to a sheaths is an interesting concept.
I imagine perhaps a gylph on a sheath (inspired by runic magic?) to give a blade an ability on its first strike once a game day? such abilities could be anything inline with the current magic system (maybe even draining character mana? for use)

As for sharpening sheaths I haven\'t heard of this outside of modern kitchen knives. I\'m not against the idea just unware of its use. I\'m only aware the use of a wet stone or grinding stone.

I guess its prudent to point out that  sheaths / scabbards were mostly made of wood or leather.
The obvious reason is cost, but other reasons are  apparent during times of war, where metal was needed for swords and armour.

Do not repeat the tactics which have gained you one victory, but let your methods be regulated by the infinite variety of circumstances.

That brings up an interessting point: Sharpness.
The best weapon is useless if its not sharp - so instead of repairing your blade you would need to sharpen it. And as far as i know sharpening a blade is a science for itself :)

I dont know of any other game that makes you sharpen your weapon instead of \"repairing\" it (which is stupid since there arent too many parts of a blade that you can repair). Also polishing could be used (since that helps with cutting things  ;)).

Thinking of sheaths...i actually never seen a game that used this kind on concept...i mean you usually just walk around...with your weapon drawn...the only time i seen that kinda thing was in action game called Kingpin...where you had aan option of putting your weapon away...and if you didn\'t NPCs reacted to that...like warning you to put it away...or being killed...or running screaming away...i thought it was good idea...magical sheaths is also good idea...i quite like that...
But thinking of it...i don\'t care if they have magical properties or not...i like having sheaths simply for Roleplaying...
