Complains about the CRYSTAL envvar even though it's set.
« on: November 24, 2004, 09:03:09 pm »
I downloaded planescape using mandrakes packetsystem and at the same time i downloaded crystal space. When i try to run psclient i get the classical

-bash-2.05b$ psclient
ERROR: csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment variable set?
-bash-2.05b$

But if i check what CRYSTAL is set to, i get:

-bash-2.05b$ echo $CRYSTAL
/usr/lib/crystalspace

which is the correct directory, as you can see:

-bash-2.05b$ ls /usr/lib/crystalspace/
bin@  data/  docs/  include/  lib/  scripts/  vfs.cfg

I tried to search around on this forum and i did some googeling but it couldnt solve my problem. My question is if anyone knows any other problem that could cause this. I\'m not sure if i have any support for VFS but would that generate this error? If yes, what should i install to fix it?

You have to set the CRYSTAL export to the dir where it\'s plugins (*.so) are, I assume it\'s /usr/lib/crystalspace/lib.
Have you installed CEL as well? You will need it. Install it and set the CEL export to the dir where it\'s plugins are.

Oh, btw, it\'s PlaneShift and not PlaneScape ;)

Edit: typo
