Old RPG's Kick ??

id say both graphics and storyline are important. would you rather play mario on the SNES or mario on the N64? mario on 64 actually had a better storyline though. then again there are games like FF8 that have great graphics and crap storylines. i could go on and on about how much i hate FF8 and how its an insult to the FF series let alone every RPG ever made. and yes FF7 was great.but i liked FF9 the best because it had a good storyline like FF7 and good graphics like FF8,so it was a balanced pretty well with storyline and graphics,which in my opinion is how RPG\'s should be. another good example is  is one of my favorite games on the comp. Baldurs gate 2 has descent graphics,not great,but good. and the storyline is defnatly awsome. FF9 would have perfect in my eyes if it werent for their lame attempt at a card game. but that is one thing ill give FF8 credit for is the cardgame. that and some of the music in the game. other than that i cant say i liked anything else about it. so thats my two cents on this subject.

Pokemon on GB.. Its really kewl   No really.. I like to play it! .. Usually beat up all the little kids in school if they dare to challenge me.. Its kewl.. Anyways.. Yea.. The new games really could use some better storylines

I agree in that the graphics are very important in a game, but what I can\'t admit is that old games have crappy graphics.
It\'s not 3D and great resolutions which creates good graphics. Personally, I prefer 2D, hand-drawed games to 3D games (I mean, for the graphic aspect), and I don\'t see the problem with 320x200 resolutions.
Just to say, I love those old RPGs graphics better than Baldur\'s Gate ones. Not to say Zelda64.

it is a bit hard to have a decent storyline in an rpg thats only for net play....

im not saying that graphics arnt good to have in an rpg im just saying that they shouldnt put so much effort into the graphics because the storylines are starting to get slighted because of it i mean they spend all this time and effort tring to get good game graphics but they dont spend nearly enought time on storyline. ff9 was ok but it could be better compaired to some of squares older works. I really like the chocobo hot cold game, dam that thing was addective as hell. lol i got the robe of lords way befor i was supposed to.

ff10 was a good game over all but the storyline was way too predictable also they didnt have a good variation of monsters there was only about 20 diffrent types in the game and then they just copied that same monster over and changed its color and stats too make a new one it really pissed me off. if a game is going to go for graphics it shouldnt repeat the older system\'s way of makeing monster for the game. I mean for crying out loud ff8 had better selection of monster.

I have compiled a list of MUST play RPGs for PC. Being a huge fan myself, whenever i have time, i have played, and would encourage you to play the following:

1) Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator.
2)Anacronox
3)Evil Islands: The Curse of the Lost Soul
4)Vampire The Mascarade:Redemption
5)Summoner (long, but has a HUGE story)

I will edit the list if i can think of some more.  ?(

i played the last four of those, they\'s all pretty good me thinks...although ana-whatever (can neverspell those right) isnt very good if your looking for a REAL rpg, it more of an adventure i think...still fun though

hey general do you know where i can get any of those game free at to play? im short on cash and i dont really have any clue of where to find them even if i did have the money so if you could help i would apreciate it. im always looking for new games to play

Well, Septera Core does not need a CD to run, and it\'s BY FAR the best game on that list. So renting it, or even buying it for one day, installing, and returning would work, that is if it\'s allowed. The rest you can try and search on Kazza, i have never tried it myself, but might work. Otherwise, can\'t help ya.

Usually the games you get off kazaa do not work and most of the time they dont even have the games you are looking for b/c they are so big in size so dont count on getting it off kazaa.
