« on: January 11, 2005, 09:48:17 pm »
I speak for everyone when i say boo to this idea. If there is going to be a wipe out, then why trouble so hard to become the best.. THere has to be another solution.  By the way... what happpened to all the monsters!!!!!!!

The evils of past repeat themselves in many shapes and forms

Yes a wipe is fair :)

Some of the bugs encoutered up until now authorised

- Unlimited money
- Huge amount of PPs for a single fight
- levelling at a fast rate without training (was removed fairly soon but still)

All of those bugs make it so that you have some pretty buffed up chars out there and it would not be fair to the other players to set the stabilised version of the game with those advantages given.

You are talking about another way but how do you make the difference between a player who worked for what he has and one who got it through bugs weather on purpose or not.

btw this thread is really not supposed to be here as it is not bug related.

short answer: yes, it is fair.

it is one thing to have great stats because who worked to acheive them. it is another to have them becuase you managed to find and exploit some bug in the system. so to retify the problem you first fix the bug. but then how to you fix the result? do you roll the stat back by some arbitrary amount? or perhaps just reset his character entirely? sure you could nerf the skill but then that would affect everybody and the balance of the game. especially when the skll is a central one.

the database reset is the simplest and cleanest of all possible methods. especially for the devs, who will invariably have to put up with the thousand of appeals for anything less implemented.

hardly because the shadow built the lexx.
the shadow will frighten laanx from my path.

just because you dont want to lose your uber character that you gained using bugs doesnt make it bad to wipe the database... i worked for my two swords and wont feel any loss once the DB is wiped, because then i get to start out fresh like everyone else adn enjoy the role-playing experience :D
I am just a figment of you imagination and a byproduct of the worse accident ever... ... or so my mommy says!

yeah but with all the time i spend on ps for nothing I dont want to do it again !

Oh ! I really hope the data wipe wont erase the gulild information cause I lost a full week to help my  members to connect ! I REALLY DON\'T WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN! And I hope the organisation will be better cause even if you are skilled developpers the organisation don\'t seem to be perfect...
I speak about migration, linkdead, the fact you promised the guild will be kept from MB to CB (it was a project I saw the CVS migration files before) ...

So now to conclude Ive one question : how many data base will be wiped before it\'s ok ?

All I just said has nothing to deals with the respect Ive for you (and which is really huge)...

Suits you fine for power-leveling. You should come to tavern and have a nice chat by the ale. You wouldn\'t lose anything, only gain nice experiences :D

There will be one wipe- one wipe when the developers are fairly sure they won\'t have to do it again 2 weeks later.

This is quite a stupid, uninformed thread, if you ask me. You are here TESTING an Alpha version of a game. You don\'t like what happens in testing phases? You leave.
