Have you tried logging out, and logging back in? The quick way to do this is press Apple+Shift+Q and then logging back in. Be prepaired to know your password.
Now, assuming you already made an account, just type in that information and hit \"OK\" don\'t even bother with the two locations you can choose between. This should take you to a new screen where you can create/choose a character.
Remember;
Username=Email address
Password= Was set when you clicked validation link
