World Initializing; PS exits
« on: January 16, 2005, 03:57:31 am »
Hey Ho!

After loading the World Map planeshift exits with a memory allocation error. I ran memtest86 to exclude hardware problems, it found no RAM errors.
I needed to restart Planeshift cause my character model became invisible (I think it happend due to camera pos. changes in the sewers,  can\'t remember exactly). After restarting PS and joining the server PS writes many error messages into the console:
----------START---------
Warning ID: crystalspace.maploader.parse.image
Description: Could not open image file \'/this/art/effects/moogiemarker.png\' on VFS!

PostSetup:
  Couldn\'t find effect material: moogiemarker.png

Load:
ERROR: Problem with an effect obj in: windblast

Speicherzugriffsfehler(trans.:memory allocation error/segmentation fault)
--------END--------
If a dev wants a complete extract of console output, please let me now and I\'ll post or mail it. Due to the work on the update server I can\'t reinstall PS completely (just by moving the art folder away, uninstalling PS and copying art back to PS root folder). I searched the forum for that problem, but couldn\'t find any matches.
I\'m running PS (installed from the binary *run file) on a Linux 2.6.10 machine with Debian SID on it.
Tried to download the cvs repository, but it hangs after sending the password (just by pressing enter). Perhaps someone knows a link to an HowTo for installing CS from CVS?
Thanks for now

Update:
After a complete reinstall PS starts without any problems. But when I open the Skills & Stats window, it crashes like described above, with a memory allocation error. I think it\'s a problem with the GUI so I\'ll write to a dev, perhaps he/she knows a bit more.
