name rules

An opinion and a question.
Who decides what an appropriate name is?
My chosen first name was Rotgut.  Thyl (or something like that) decided to change it because he thought it was inappropriate.  I have used the same name for 15 years of PnP RP.   There is a reason for it, and a history behind it.  I realize that Thyl has no idea what Rotgut is, but when I tried to explain it, I was told to shut up and do what I was told.  (Am I 4?).

Rotgut, loosely, is very bad home brew ale, or distilled spirits.   My character (15 yrs ago when he was created) was the son of a brewer, a very bad brewer, and my PnP buddies used to call my char \"little rotgut\".  The name Rotgut stuck (I\'ve long forgotten my origional name) and I\'ve been using it ever since.  In no way do I find Rotgut an inappropriate name for a dwarf; nor has anyone else, through years of UO, and lately, NWN.  When someone comes along and plays God because they don\'t understand; what kind of roleplaying experience is that?  I tried to play my role the best I could, and got snubbed.

Basically, I\'m a little angry that a name with meaning and history is no good in a world of imagination, but a homogenized \"fantasy sounding\" name out of some computerized generator would be just fine.

There, I\'m done.
And I feel better.

In the beginning ... there was nothing.
And then God said, \"Let there be light!!\",
And there was still nothing,
But you could see it.

Let me tell everyone now, and only now.

GM actions will NOT be discussed on these forums. If you have a problem with something or someone, submit a petition ingame, or if you feel very violated, go on IRC and whine to a dev.

END OF DISCUSSION.
