Cant view stats while running
« on: January 22, 2005, 12:59:32 pm »
Now, im sure you dont have to be reminded about how boring running is.  However, at least before when you had auto-run on you could open any menus such as your inventory, or your Skills and stats menu and check up on things, and use the otherwise boring time spent travelling large distances to organise things and see how your player is going.  Now, in the latest update when you open a menu your player stops running.  This is rather annoying, and makes walking long distance even more frustrating.  Plus its annoying in battle if you\'re running away from a monster, and you open your inventory to get  use a potion, and then your player stops running and stands there waiting to get hit.... I like it the way it was before.

*IF* you\'ve built Planeshift yourself from CVS, you need to undo the last changes in src/client/pscharcontrol.cpp . The changes from 1.85 to 1.86 have broken this. If you\'re on Wndows then you are stuck and should probably file a bug or a petition.

I like it the way it was before too. I\'m using the Win32 version. Is there a way to get  the file which changed? Or at least it\'s source with the diffs, so i can try fixing/compiling it on my own? I hope mingw can be used on this task, because i\'ve compiled only MAME32 on win so far, and have no much experience on win32 compiling.

P.S. It would be best if ve have an option for this in the ingame settings (a hint for the next update;) .

I\'m glad to see its considered a bug and not intentional.   :P

Another recent bug I noticed is my hp bar no longer updates properly when I am in battle.  I have to click myself to see how much hp I have left.

And this is not a bug but maybe a helpful tip after a frustrating encounter.  I really have to make a shortcut for using a potion.  I recently had a tough battle with a tefusang and was in the process of looting it when his friend came out of nowhere and started attacking me.  I knew I didn\'t have enough hp to survive another encounter so I decided it might be a good time to use a potion.  In a panic, I opened the wrong menu (twice) so thought it might be quicker to just type it in.  Unfortunately I didn\'t have the chat box properly selected so after I started typing I noticed about six menu\'s opened because of shortcuts.  I tried to run but couldn\'t see where I was going due to all the crap on my screen.  Everytime I closed a window or clicked my screen anywhere I would stop running.  Now down to my last few hit points I managed to close them all, carefully select the chat box, and type \"/equip greater po...\"  that was it, I was off to the death realm.

Well guess that\'s why they call it beta testing.   ;)

This is probably un-related, but has anyone checked if their feet kept moving when the do a zone change(This only happens when you don\'t have load all maps checked) with this current version?

I would check myself, but the last time I tried to change zones I crashed in mid-change (from Dungeon to Hyldaa via the doorway).
I like taking things literally, going overboard is fun! Now... why do I keep getting odd looks?

Yes, that\'s another kind of annoying bug.  When changing zones you just run in place once the new zone loads.  I have to stop and run again to get going.  I have wondered about that though, I think you only see yourself running in place.  Others in the same situation you see them as just standing still.
