Can gmax be used with PS export script?
« on: February 06, 2005, 06:38:46 pm »
Topic.

Recently I was working on modeling for a map of mine in Warcraft 3, and there is a .gmax - .mdl exporter that they say works in both .gmax and 3dsmax, and i was wondering if the PS script uses anything gmax can\'t...

Reason being that logically, more people who wanted to pick up modeling, learn it, and help PS would actually be able to if the program weren\'t $3000, meaning more content, variety... etc...

[EDIT] Sorry, more to the point; does it work currently? If not, would it be possible to make it work?

[Edit again] Second note, if not directly from gmax-->CS, would it be possible to make a convert program from .mdl-->CS

Anyways, just a thought.
Thanks!

I am not aware of any  gmax->CS converters.  I also thought that the gmax format leaves a water mark on files?  Anways is something that could be investigated.

I don\'t think that\'s possible [[edit] to leave a watermark], the method of converting is that you select the model in its entirety, press the \"print to listener\" button, and copy and paste the listener\'s text into notepad and save as .mdl.

Also, i was wondering... if gmax uses .gmax, 3dsmax uses .3ds, what uses .mdl? Is that program able to convert to CS?
