Theory of sanity.
« on: April 03, 2005, 10:29:17 pm »
It has come to my attention that the Yliak and GM Mogura seems to remain completly sane and calm whatever happens, after reading several idiotic, pointless threads that would have made any normal person snap and write a well deserved flame against the thread starter, and then proceeding to read Mogura\'s calm and completly sane answers, I began to wonder how she could remain so sane after reading and answering to so many idiotic threads.

After discussing with the other mages of the order, I and some other mages came up with a theory: Mogura\'s brain transforms idiocy into pure energy, we soon realized the world would probably have been destroyed by the vast amounts of energy that would release, however, unless the Rate at which the idiocy was transferred was rather extreme.

So after some calculations I reached the result that Mogura\'s brain creates energy at the rate of E=I/C^2 , where E is energy, I idiocy, and C the speed of light.

While we are not quite sure what happens to this energy, some say it is somehow transferred to the crystal, wether aliathi is involved in this or not I do not know, but the energy then becomes the energy that causes the Azure sun to shine, the crops to grow, and gives the glyphs their powers.

This is of course still just a theory, but suppose it is true, a stupidity reactor might be possible, and krans all over the stalacite would never have to worry about unemployment again!

So what are your opinions on this, fellow Yliaki? and what do you say, Mogura, sanest of GMs, is this the secret that keeps you sane?

What is sane or insane...

This could be discovery of the age! Who needs E=m2 when you got E=I/C^2. :D

You can try, but you shall fail! Seek us not, we shall find you.

Why would we need Atomic power when we have Azure Crystals?

The Azure sun is our source of evergy that has both helpful and harmful (radiation) effects, but figuring out a formula is quite nice for all the alchemists to study on.

As one of the many mages who was with Niavard during the development of his theory and equation, I am 100% behind him. His theory is the only theory proposed so far that explains A. how Moogie deals with all that idiocy, and B. how the Azure sun never runs out of power. It is sheer brilliance, in my opinion.

I have a few questions about the equation. The theory is fine, but the equation just wasn\'t explained near enough to satisfy my needs.

1. In what unit is Idiocy calculated?

2. If it is calculated in questions, then each person must ask a lot of questions, no? (Calculations later)

3. Is the unit of Energy used here the Joule? If so, you won\'t get *that* much energy from this equation unless... *calculates*...

According to Laanx, there are 55,812 accounts created. Not all of them have characters, but some accounts have more than one character, so this is the best way (I think) to calculate it. Anyways, the speed of light squared is 89,875,517,873,681,764 meters/second. In order to get one unit of energy, (assuming it is a joule here...) each member would have to have 1,610,326,056,649 units of Idiocy. If, like I asked, the unit of Idiocy is questions, then that is a hell of a lot of questions to be asked by EACH member. If, however, each member DID ask that many idiotic questions, then Moogie would end up with 1 Joule of Energy. Not that impressive because 1 Joule of energy is equivalent to dropping a book on the floor from your standing height. So, unless that is enough to actually power a person, the Azure Sun, and various other glyphs, then your equation is flawed and proven wrong.

It would be even worse if we just did the Forum Accounts, so I won\'t go into that.

With that all said, the theory is pretty good...the equation is not.

Well, Faldrok, I suspect that value of idiocy is measured in unused neurons compared to the average NASA or ESA scientist, multiplied by the inverse of their connection where 1Mbit is 1 (ex: 1/0.056).  This would yield a substantially higher amount of energy, enough to be useful for some random task.  Unfortunately, it is difficult to calculate the yield because the number of neurons varies, and the number used is generally indeterminate and can vary based on the subject\'s state.

You are only figuring in the kinetic idiocy energy of actual posts, while ignoring the vastly greater potential energy of the n00bian particle, which runs rampant through PS at the moment. Given the quantum properties of this particle, in theory, when subjected to a common sense beam of the proper wavelength, it actually releases 100-fold the power of the original wave.

i\'m not sure that it is a particle. i think it may be more of a field. for instance there tends be a decreasing about of noobish (sorry i can\'t write n00b) effects the further you are from the locus point. with a particle there is a sharper region of demarcation.

while the applications of quantum to noobish effects analysis does generate the exsistance of a wave/particle duality. the noobish effects are much better explained using field theories rather than particles theories.

the extreme concentrations of noobish in certain areas, cannot be suitably explained using particle based approaches. for example, if noobish effects were particle based there would be a gradual diffusion of the effects throughout the area. mostly as a result of the random collisions between the particles themselves.

the continous and localized concentrations of these effects leads to two conclusions. first that there is a continous noobish particle sources at the locus. this can be ruled out because of the lack of a spreading area of effect. the second is that it is a field rather then a particle.

by analzing the decay rate of the field with repect to distance, we can determine the number of dimensions the the field is projected in. from that we can determine the amount of the noobish effect field that we can channel into the usable four dimensions that ps exsists in.

the problem with extracting energy from the interaction between a common sense beam and a noobish field is that the beam may pass through the field without effecting either. this leads to the conclusion that there may be multiple variants of noobish fields. which of course projects the possiblity of a grand unified noob theory.

the benefits of a fully developed grand unified noob theory of course are limitless.

btw. good work on the 6th epoch, under the moon

They say that a bunch of monkeys hitting keyboards at random will eventually produce Shakespeares works, still the power of a couple of magicians chatting at random just surprised me greatly!

Great thoughts everyone, but I must disagree a bit with Faldrok. Not all questions are idiotic, some of them even make sense! I believe every question has a certain value of idiocity, which is positive if the question is n00bish, and negative if it isn\'t. Smart questions absorb some of the energy from idiotic questions, but the amount and value of idiocity seem to be a lot higher for n00bis questions.
