Rats
« on: April 06, 2005, 01:05:52 am »
Yes rats. Everybody loves them. Everybody hunts them. Everybody kills them. Unfortunately they tend to get stuck in walls.

I realize that it has been a known bug that monsters get stuck in walls. I just encountered three(!!!) rats at more or less the same location. One was stuck under the floor, while two of them were buried like a couple of (in-game) meters inside the wall (hence one cannot even see them). I was just wondering if they get respawned at some point or that they are staying, being stuck there for ever. If so, isn\'t is possible to periodically reset the rats, because this very important source of money is kind of getting rare. I imagine that this will cause huge problems once the characters are getting reset and everyone has to go after them again.

you could try setting a macro to target the nearest mob and attack it, and another macro to loot the nearest dead mob.

**Ok this is an update of things I TRIED to target the rat that went under world/in wall/AWOL****

Ok, I hit the \"target next NPC\" and get the rat across the way, which had another player killing it, and I wasn\'t about to barge over and steal HIS rat. I don\'t like to be rude like that, mostly because I hate it when people do that to me. I moved over a hair and hit it again, and got the rogue on other side of the grate. I then moved back a few steps and hit the button, and got the rat on the other side of the wall (also had anothe player there).

I HAVE found between three or four other rats, and found a few lower areas in the sewers, but got turned around enough that I got myself killed LOL (this tends to happen to me due to my \"I will just outrun them\" tendancy when I explore.) BUT...these spawns, while a bit less obvious and very outta the way, were NOT secret to some...AKA they had other players about two outta ten times I ran across them (LOL in the same night I might add).

I have seen rats \"chase their tails\" in combat, and since if  I didn\'t kill it no UNbugged rat would spawn, and the one time I contacted a gm about rats he/she seemed a tad put out with me, but eventually DID help me, I went a head and killed it, even though it was only hitting me half as often (and felt GUILTY all night LONG about having killed it).

I forget which direction it spun, but it was the same way, each time this happened (about one in 20 or 30 spawns...give or take a bit). I will write down if it is clockwise or counter CW next time I see it, it might or might NOT matter, but just in case it does, I will report that part too. And I will also report if one spawn spot seems to spin more than any other, this report might take ALOT of time to fairly and civilly get different spawns without being a disruption to others gaming fun.

Hmm maybe I could watch others while THEY kill and see if THEIR rats do the \"gotta catch that tail, almost got it\" dance. I guess I could ask them if they minded me watching to report a bug.

Another Rats bug. I am sure anyone that has spent more than an hour at the rats (which ANY amount of training takes MUCH more than an hour) has seen the rat corpses that do not despawn, and when someone drops loot, either a rat\'s eye or hide, sometimes it doesn\'t despawn, not ten minutes later...not hours later. (this MIGHT be exploitable).

I have also had rats not spawn right, could it be a mob in the wall or under the floor...maybe.
