Did you first run the updater?  Make sure to run the updater when you download the client because there can be small changes made to the game without an increase in version number.

I had that happen to me when I made my first character.

There are 2 ways to go. You can either pick a class or answer the questions and it will pick a class for you.

Choose one way or the other. If you pick a class then try to answer the questions it will give you the \"You did not choose a race\" error.

Hope this helps, it worked for me.

Ok, this is a related post (and my first question, for that matter). I found, downloaded and started playing PS last night.

The sourceforge link is still up for the installation guide and what I downloaded there didn\'t match up with what the guide said I had to do (there isn\'t an updater or a setup executable (currently running in xp, though I\'m going to try gentoo later)) After searching the site, though, the torrent file downloaded and installed fine and matched the installation guide as I had expected. (Just figured I\'d throw that out there first.)

Now, when I tried to setup a character, I first noticed that only the top class (sorry, I can\'t remember the name right now) was available but when I went into the game itself I saw several classes around. Do I have to run the updater more than once maybe to get all of the updates?

Secondly, this might be a glitch but I\'ll post it\'s where appropriate if it is a problem. I went to setup my character, got to the last screen that described the childhood experiences and my cp went over limit (to -5, I think) When I removed that specific experience that pushed me over the -5 remained. Then I went back and reset some other stuff but it kept on removing cp instead of balancing it out like it should (I would add stuff and the cp would go down but when I removed it the number stayed the same). Is this a bug and should I report it as such?
