Yoho, npc/player making circles?
« on: May 03, 2005, 06:27:36 pm »
I logged in to PS today and I noticed something strange.
Near Harnquist, a player named Yoho was continuously making circles around a tree, and his legs weren\'t moving. I tried to speak to him with /tell, but I couldn\'t. It said \"yoho is not a valid player name\". I also couldn\'t challenge him, it said \"you can only challenge other players\", but his name was green and not blue like a npc. I asked someone if he knew what was going on with this Yoho guy, but he said he couldn\'t see anyone named Yoho, and Yoho was right in front of him. Does anyone know what could\'ve caused this strange error?

I have the latest version of PS (I just checked) and I had sounds disabled.
After a relog, Yoho was gone. I suspect it was a test of advanced pathfinding for npc\'s, but I\'m probably wrong.

I personally have no idea what could cause this Yoho to circle around a tree, but god was that funny!  I\'ve witnessed rats and Gobbles spinning stationary circles in the sewers though.  Wonder if it\'s somehow related?

Sounds like a lag clone.  If he logged off but his lag clone remained, tells wouldn\'t work since he wasn\'t ingame anymore.  Sometimes clones are client specific.  In other words, only you can see them.  If you logged off and came back, I suspect he would not have been there.

edit: sorry didn\'t read your last line.    :P

I think you should report this to the PS Times as a bona fide supernatural occurance.  Is Harnquist\'s forge haunted?
