I\'ve read that. And I think the guild idea has a nice base. Just change every instance of the word \"dragon\" to something else that exists in Planeshift (while I like pink fluffy bunnies, it may deflate the guild\'s reputation somewhat

).
The problem is not that \"there are no dragons in PS, so even the name can\'t be used.\" The problem is that dragons have pre-existing connotations in real life that you CAN\'T get rid. Trying to create a guild with that name attaches all those connotations to the guild regardless of what else you try to do. So, whether you want to or not, you end up giving your guild a meaning that is interpreted out of character (OOC), not in character as it should be.
Here\'s another example of the same issue:
I create a guild called the Riflemen. We\'re a guild that sneaks around stealing things from defenseless townfolk (alternate definition of \"rifle\"). It\'s a workable background, no? A newbie gets on and sees a guild member and he says, \"So you guys fight with guns? Cool! Can I join your guild?\"
You see what the issue is? Rifle = gun. Dragon = huge flying thing that breathes fire. You can\'t change that, no matter how creative you are; OOC stuff will always interfere.
