Before you flame: me for not ressing an old topic, i wanted a new topic so i would actualy be able to form the  basis of the idea so we can work out the best combat system. also if any mod/admin wants this deleted go ahead, i understand i am a moderater of forums. and i have been an admin (although unsucsessful due to my lack of enterprising)

Was this moved? if so it is an idea, if not so, put it in the ideas thread.



My combat system idea:
Real time aspect:
Now c\'mon, we don\'t want someone who has no life to be the undipuded ruler of the game, so why not have a system where you push a button that does the corresponding move? think of it, rather then have a litle button where you click on an enemy and watch the stupid people do the same thing back and forth until someone dies... make it ecsiting, this would bring in fans. they could also sell special controllers for just enough (a three dollar profit for each one?).
First person shooter aspect:
What about the games like counterstrike, or james bond? in which you take a gun and aim? the crosshairs and the longrange? you could go around and you could use special items that would be similar to grenades. you could use bows, crossbows, spears, javilins, slingshots, single shot hand cannons, and some spells. this would bring an awsome aspect to the combat in the game.
The role playing aspect:
the spells, say the words and aim the spell and have a certain percent chance for it to work well. although this would not be fun, it is the only good system i could see for them.
The riding aspect:
other than flying beats, why not have horses aswell? and wagons, canoes, sailboats you name it it could be done. a wagon or stagecouch could have multiple people in it, several archers shooting off of the sides, and bunches of arrows flying. with this could go the best pvp ever, full open, no rules. people could speed by in wars and open fire.

I don\'t even think Rockstar Games would\'ve been able to make it like that. At least not while still looking realistic.

A bit of more char animation would be nice! But you need to have patience :P All things in due time! And don\'t be silly like wanting a whole repertoire of moves like that :P

i think that something like this is very important... click and wait sucks... that\'s one (of many :D ) reason im always a mage, because you actually get to do domething instead of just standing there and waiting on someone to die...
so, in that mindset, why not make the combat system more like the magic system?
i dont really know hardly anything about programming or coding, but i wouldn\'t think it would be that difficult to make a combat system like im about to describe.
first, you just have different buttons correspond to each of the types of attack there already are (you know bloody, defensive, and all that)
you push the button, and your character does that attack on whoever you target.  then, something like after one swing of your weapon (or punch or whatever) the attack ends.  then you have to push the button again (or another button if you want to do a different attack) to keep attacking.
no new animations would really be necesary (although that would be nice  :D )
but if we just stopped here it really wouldn\'t add that much to the game, you just get to push a few extra keys on the keyboard (woohoo.)
where it could get fun (in my opinion) is if there were combos. for example, if you do a bloody attack followed by a normal attack followed by another bloody attack, the second bloody attack would instead be a combo and it would do extra damage (or maybe some other special effect, like reduce opponents strength etc.)
this could be alot like the glyphs i think... you have to discover the combos yourself... and the more steps to the combo (therefore harder to figure out) the more powerful it is.
i think the first part would be pretty simple to code, but i dont really know how hard the combo system would be to make.
so what do you people think? is it a possibility or am i just being an idiot? (it happens)

I personaly think they should make the comabt more like morrowind (of course with a higher dificulty and better physics) the probleem witthat is that it would take alot of work and lag would kill you so fast.....
